Album Cover
Task
As a teenager growing up in the 1950s, you experienced a lot of historical people and events. You and some friends decide to produce a musical about growing up during the Cold War and 1950’s. Your task is to create an album cover for your musical about this period in U.S. history.
Things to Consider
Part I.
1. Create a song title for each item listed below. Song titles should clearly summarize important people and/or events. You do NOT have to write the lyrics for the songs, however, you must list the character(s) singing the song in the musical in parenthesis and the year that the event occurred. Example:
“You Drop the Bomb On Me” (by Harry S. Truman) . . . 1945
2. Using the templates provided, design an album cover for your musical’s record. The “front” of the album cover must include the musical’s title and a color picture with 5 aspects (things) about the 1950s and must be 12.3x12.3 square. The “back” of the album cover must include a different color picture and all of the musical’s song titles. Song titles must be listed in chronological order. As in 1, 2, 3, 4… The album cover and “back” of the album cover will go on the front of the poster.
Part II.
3. Write a 6-sentence paragraph on a separate sheet of paper. You will be assigned a term that needs to be defined, and name three ways this term affected the United States during the 1950s.
All of your work must be done by hand. Be creative and unique. Include color, write legibly, and be neat at all times.
