Monday: As you write your spelling words, sort them into these groups: long /e/vowel spelled “ea”, “ee”, “_y”, “_e”, and High Frequency Words (HFW). Then, write meaningful sentences (declaratives) using the first 4 vocabulary words.

Tuesday: Make a “rime” (same spelling pattern) for these words: eat, mean, need, & seek. Use a dictionary to be sure they are real words! Write meaningful sentences using vocabulary words #5-8

Wednesday: One of your spelling words is a homophone. Which one? (Homophones are words that sound the same, but are spelled differently, yet mean something else). Which of your spelling words can be both a noun and a verb? Write meaningful sentences (declaratives or interrogatives) for vocabulary words #9-11.

Thursday: Study your spelling & vocabulary words so you’re ready for Friday’s test. Do the vocabulary puzzle on the back of this page.

Note: If you got 100 % on the spelling pretest, you will not need to do the Monday spelling portion of the homework, but you MUST do the vocabulary activities. Instead of the spelling words, please choose 3 words on my “Tricky Word List” and make a picture dictionary that includes a meaningful sentence & meaningful question. (See “Tricky Word List” sheet for instructions)
