Religious Formation Student/Parent Policies 2012-2013

  1. Attendance Policy
  2. ONLY 5 Absences allowed
  3. From the start of class in September 2012 to the end of class in May 2013 students are allowed ONLY 5 absences.
  4. Unexcused or Excused an absence is still an absence
  5. Extenuating circumstances should be discussed with the RF Director (Deborah Montoya 855-1661) as soon as possible.
  6. Sports will not be considered an extenuating circumstance. (please read the Sports and School Activities policy below)
  7. In the Communion Classes (Saturday and Sunday) a parent/guardian will be required to sign their child in and out of class.
  8. Tardies (please read carefully)
  9. 5-15 minutes late the student is marked Tardy
  10. After 16-30 minutes the student is marked for a ½ of an absence
  11. After 30 minutes late the student is marked as 1 full day absent
  12. 4 tardies will equal 1 Day Absent!
  13. If a student is marked absent and the attendance has been picked up by the Coordinators then the student is responsible for going to the office to check in and their attendance will be marked accordingly.
  14. Drop-Off and Pick-Up – First Communion Students
  15. ALL students attending Saturday Morning or Sunday Morning Communion Classes MUST be dropped off directly in the classroom by a parent/guardian and they must SIGN-IN their child.
  16. ALL students attending Saturday Morning Classes MUST be picked up directly from the classroom by a parent/guardian and they must SIGN-OUT their child.
  17. All students attending Sunday Morning Communion Classes are expected to attend the 10:30 am Mass with their families and Catechists. Should a child not be attending Mass the parent must pick them up on time directly from the classroom at 10:15am or find them in the Church or Office.
  18. Sports/Activities Policy
  19. Class times are set!
  20. Therefore, should a sporting event or activity interfere with the class time please note that your child still has to adhere to the Attendance Policy as stated in section “I” of this document.
  21. While we encourage and support our students taking part in school sports/activities and city league sports we cannot adjust set times or alter the attendance policy.
  22. There are NO “make-up” classes!
  23. We highly recommend that you choose absences wisely!
  24. The policy applies to ALL of our students!
  25. We encourage families to please review the set calendars and to plan accordingly.
  26. Parent Session Participation Policy
  27. Parents are required to attend Parent Sessions.
  28. On average: Confirmation I parents will attend a session once a month on Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Church.
  29. On average: 1st Year First Communion parents will attend a session once a month on Saturdays from 9 am to 10 am in the Parish Hall.
  30. On average: Confirmation II parents will attend a session twice a month on Sundays from 11am to 12:15pm in the Parish Hall.
  31. On average: 2nd Year First Communion parents will attend a session twice a monthon Sundays from 9 am to 10:15am in the Parish Hall.
  32. At least 1 parent is required to attend. Should there be an occasion when a parent is not able to attend then please send the child’s Godparent, Aunt, Uncle or Sibling (over the age of 18).
  33. Please note that this should be an exception not the norm.
  34. It is very important that PARENTS are attending these sessions.
  35. Parent Sessions are expected and part of your child’s formation. Please be diligent!
  36. Should you have a children in both 2nd Yr Com. & Conf II please attend the Conf II Parent Sessions!
  37. Calendars will be sent home with the students and will also be posted on the parish website: (No extra copies will be made by the Office Staff!)

There may be an occasion where student (Children and Adults) photos may be posted on the Parish website ( be published in a church document or be displayed on the church grounds.

Therefore, we ask for your permission to do so. Sign here and mark either

DRESS CODE:

This applies to Boys and Girls within the Religious FormationProgram at St. Stephen

The following types of clothing are inappropriate for attending Church and RF Classes therefore, they are not allowed.

1.“Skinny” Jeans

2.“Sagging” pants (of any kind)

3.Low rise jeans (or pants) – absolutely NO underwear showing!

4.Shorts

5.Tank Tops

6.Halter Tops

7.Low Cut Tops

8.Spaghetti Straps

9.Caps or Beanies

10. T-shirts with inappropriate messages (wording or pictures)

11. Slippers

12.Flip-flops

13.Pajamas or Sweats

  1. On Wednesday nights during Confirmation I -- if a student is coming to class from a sports event then they may wear their warm-up suit or long sweat pants.

14.Bare feet (shoes must be worn at all times)

15.Short skirts/dresses (Skirt and Dress length must be at the knee.)

16.Tight skirts/dresses

** Cell phones and other electronic devices are not to be used during class time.

***ONLY the students registered for a class are allowed to be in that class during class time!
