Unit 2 (Term 2) – Improvisation and the Elements of Drama

Unit Overview:

Students will use improvisation for exploring and expressing their individual and social identities. They will learn to manipulate role, relationships, tension, space, mood, symbol in making drama. They will experiment with innovative and hybrid forms and performance styles, focussing on improvisation. They will practise interpersonal group tasks and responsibilities, and refine and practise for their performances. Students will explore and respond to novel and complex ideas related to improvisation and the elements of drama.

8.1 – Develop Roles and characters consistent with situation and performance style to convey relationships and intentions

8.5 - Develop and perform expressive skills in voice and movement to communicate contrast and different performance styles and conventions

8.8 - Connect experiences of Drama making, performing and responding
