Vocational Skills Scan
Level 2 Diploma in Business & Administration (QCF)
LEARNER NAME:Please read the instructions below in full
The Vocational Skills Scan is designed to recognise and capture previous learning (RPL) and achievement (PCA) and identify what responsibilities are part of the learner’s current job role or will become part of their job role within the next 12 months. The Skills Scan will also enable employers and learners to identify what training they require and what support they need to enable them to achieve the chosen qualification/programme.
The appropriate member of staff will complete Part 1 prior to the Training Adviser’s first visit. The purpose of this is to outline the ‘chosen qualification’ and ensure that the mandatory units and desired options are discussed with the learner and the employer, this will enable them to prepare for the first visit with the Training Adviser (Part 2) where the qualification/ programme will be discussed in more detail and the units confirmed.
Part 1
Please take the time to discuss and confirm with the employer and learner the mandatory units and potential optional units which reflect the learner’s responsibilities and areas being developed. Confirm by ticking the appropriate box only against each unit. The appropriate member of staff must then pass the Skills Scan back to the Training Adviser to action the completion of Part 2.
Part 2 – Training Adviser
Please take the time to go through the Skills Scan in detail with the employer and learner and answer the questions for each unit. Confirm by completing one section only (A, B or C). For those units where the learner can prove competence using RPL please indicate the percentage of each unit that does not require training (The funding will be reduced accordingly by BST). Where a certificate is in place for PCA then enter the number of credits against each relevant unit.
When the Skills Scan is fully completed you should decide how the qualification will be delivered and how long it will take to achieve it. Full discussion and accurate completion will also help to plan assessment dates and set challenging target dates to ensure timely success.
