Goodview Sandlot Minutes

We had 14 parents in attendance at this meeting. Thank You All for coming and helping us with decisions. We appreciate your input very much.

Uniform/Pancake Breakfast/Volunteer Fee:

Dates have been set to take care of above listed.

March 13th 5:00-8:00 at Goodview City Hall

March 17th 9:00-12:00 at Goodview City Hall

-Kids will get their jersey and hats sized

-families will get their pancake tickets & pay for them ($60, 10 tickets)

-families will pay their volunteer fee of $100 for 9u- 14u, $60 for 8u, 5/6 exempt

-families can bring in unwanted baseball/softball pants that are in good condition. Please make sure the baseball pants are gray with red piping and the softball pants are red. (They will be available on a first come first serve basis, one pair per player for those who need or want them.)

Pancake Breakfast:

April 15th at The Elks Club, serving from 8:00-12:00

Families can find volunteer hours for this event on our webpage under Dibs. Shifts will be in 1 hour increments. Jobs available are: start up, line servers, coffee station, drink table, table bussing, pants table, helmet table, kitchen help, clean up.

There will be a table set up with ball pants available for players. One per player until gone. First come first serve.

There will also be a helmet table. Families can purchase a helmet here. We are charging $10/ helmet.

Again, this will be first come first serve.

Volunteer Hours:

9u-14u families will be required to pay $100 for the volunteer fee. These families need to put in 5 hours of volunteer time to get their $100 back. These hours can come from concessions, pancake breakfast, Wicka tourney, Wayne Kramer tourney.

8u Families are required to pay$60 for their volunteer fee and are expected to put in 3 hours of volunteer time. These hours can come from Pancake breakfast, Wicka Tourney, Wayne Kramer Tourney.

6u families are exempt from the volunteer fee but are encouraged to volunteer to help at any of our events.

Anyone who takes on a coordinator position, coaching position (8u level) orteam parent rep position will have their volunteer fee waived.

6u Age Group:

We have 31 kids registered. We would like to split into 2 teams, each having different practice times. That will depend on how field time we have available. We also have been in contact with Plainview organization who is aiming to have a 5/6 program this year and we would like to set up a couple games for this age group to play against each other.

We are going to keep this age group registration open until April 1st.

8u Age Group:

We have 32 kids registered. Gives us 3 teams. We are keeping registration open for this age group until April 1st. We are hoping this year there will be more tournament options. This is something we can only wait on and something we have no control over.

9u Age Level:

We currently have 27 9u players registered. There will be a lower 9u team and an upper 9u team. There will be try outs for this level. Try Out dates are TBD.

It Is possible that we’ll need to ask a player or two to move up to 10u to fill out one of those teams. That will be decided at a later date and could be decided by try outs.

Both 9u teams will play in the Coulee Region League and have 4 tournaments.

9u Tournament:

9u Lower- LaCrosse June 1-2, LaCrescent June 8-9, Wayne Kramer July 13-15, 4thTBD

9u Upper- LaCrosse June 1-2, LaCrescent June 8-9, Wayne Kramer July 13-15, Shelby June 20

10u Age Level:

We currently have 19 10u players registered. We will still take 2 more players at this age level. There will be 2 teams in this age group. Try outs will be held for this group, the date is to be determined.

We discussed having teams at 10AA, 10A, or 10 local levels.

It was decided that we will have one 10A team and one 10 local team. 10A team will play in the Coulee Region League and have 4 tournaments with 2 of those being qualifiers & the potential of 2 added state tournaments. 10 local team will play coulee region league and have 4 local tournaments.

10u Tournaments:

10 Local-LaCrosse June 1-2, LaCrescent June 8-9, Holmen July 13-14, 4thTBD

10A – River Falls May 19-20 (Gopher State Qualifier), LaCrosse June 1-2, LaCrescent June 8-9, Red Wing June 22-23 (Gopher & MBT State Qualifier). Potential for 2 added tourneys, MBT in Rosemount on July 13-15 & Gopher State in Rogers on July 27-29

11u Age Level:

There are 12 players registered. We will have one team and they will be playing at the AA level. No try outs needed.

11AATournaments: Mendota Heights May 19-20 (Gopher & MBT qualifier), Red Wing June 8-9 (MBT qualifier), LaCrosse June 22-23, Shelby July 6-7. Potential added tourneys are Gopher State Rogers July 13-15 and MBT Bloomington July 20-22

12u & 13u Age Level:

This group is a little tricky. We have 15 kids registered for 12u and 15 kids registered for 13u.

We are going to have a 12A team, a 13A team, and a 13AA team. Kids will try out, the top 10 will be placed on 13AA, the next 10 will play 13A, and the bottom 10 will play 12A.

Try Out dates are TBD.

Tournaments:

12A- Red Wing May 11-12 (MBT & Gopher State Qualifier), LaCrosse June 1-2, Rochester June 15-16(MBT & Gopher State qualifier), Wicka July 6-8. Potential MBT Prior Lake July 13-15 & Gopher State Shakopee July 27-29.

13A- Albert Lea May 18-19 (Gopher & MBT qualifier), LaCrosse June 1-2, LaCrescent June 8-9, Shelby June 22-23. Potential for MBT Rochester July 13-15 & Gopher Anoka/Ramsey July 27-29.

13AA- LaCrosse June 1-2, Menomonie June 8-9 (Qualifier), Rochester June 22-23 (Gopher, MBT, MSF), 4th tourney TBD. Potential Gopher State Mankato July 13-15, MBT Lakeville July 20-22, MSF Marshall July 27-29.

14U Age Level:

This team will be playing at the AA level. They have 12 players. No try outs needed at this level.

14AA Tournaments: Rochester June 1-2 (Gopher, MBT, MSF qualifier), LaCrescent June 8-9, Shelby June 22-23, 4th Tourney TBD. Potential MBT Eastview July 13-15, Gopher Burnsville July 20-22, MSF Austin July 27-29.

Try Outs:

We will have coaches pick teams, this is stated in our handbook. We would like to have evaluations done by outside help but we will need people to volunteer their time. This is something we can’t guarantee. We will need to decide if we are going to do a 1 day or 2 day tryout. There are benefits to both. Dates are TBD.

8u Baseball – Nikki Peterson, Greg Martinka, Brian Lingen, (Donnenwerth/Krinke if needed)

9u-14u – We have 5 coaches lined up to coach 11AA-14AA, looking to find more hired coaches for the 9 and 10u levels.

We have a few people reaching out to others who could help us find coacheswe will post to Facebook about coaching need.

Equipment:

Rhett is getting 15 first aid kits together. We want each team to have one.

He will also get game balls when we have a number of how many are needed.

We will be purchasing a new 8u pitching machine due to the rule changes on the type of balls that will now be used for games and practices.

Fields:

Before we can let coaches know about scheduling practice times, we need to get Cotter’s & Winona High’s schedule to see what’s available during the school ball season.

Fields we have available to us this year:

We Valley, Goodview Park, Goodview Elementary, Memorial Park, WMS fields.
