Education Field Monitor (GS-4), based inTaunggyi- Position No. 64944

UNICEF is seeking to recruit a motivated and committed Education Field Monitor to monitor education programme implementation at school level, especially in the delivery of supplies and end-user monitoring.

Under the guidance and supervision of theEducation Field Officer, based in Taunggyi:-

Your role would be to:-

  • Undertake systematic & regular field visits to assigned schools and conduct random checks in other schools. Monitor delivery of school supplies to schools, storage facilities, distribution process to children and functionality of equipment (WASH—Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). Check local markets for any misappropriation of UNICEF supplies;
  • Collect data using the comprehensive and routine school monitoring check lists and other relevant information that would support implementation of the Education programme;
  • Provide programme and logistical support to the Field Officers in the assessment of school-level supply distribution and implementation (Early Childhood Development, Child Friendly School, Life skills) using key observation criteria;
  • Monitor participation of and involvement of parents and the wider community in managing and supporting school-based interventions in collaboration with school heads and PTAs;
  • Provide support to emergency preparedness and response in assigned areas, including conducting rapid assessments;
  • Prepare regular assessment reports based on visits made to the field, with recommendations to be shared with the supervisor.

You should have:

  • High school graduate, preferably with a University degree. Training in project monitoring and evaluation will be an asset;
  • Two (2) years relevant work experience, preferably in monitoring and/or education. Substantial field experience will be an asset;
  • Fluency in speaking and writing in Myanmar and English languages. Knowledge of one or more ethnic minority languages an asset;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Knowledge transfer skills;
  • Knowledge of computer management and applications (mainly MS Office);
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment;
  • Willingness to travel frequently in-country.
