Development Goal
This project aims to support the mobilization of Iraqi women to ensure their participation in the upcoming elections process in order that target of twenty five percent women representation achieved.
Immediate objectives
  • To build the capacity of the Ministry of Municipality & Public Works (MMPW) to mobilize women for the upcoming elections through ensuring their effective participation and understanding of their potential role in the elections process,
  • To build a practical and comprehensive knowledge (data) base on Iraqi women from participating line ministries, women NGOs, and the civil society institutions wishing to participate in the electoral process,
  • To empower civil society institutions to be active in the elections process and support Iraqi women’s wish to participate and to advocate for women’s rights in the elections process

Outputs, Key Activities and Procurement:
  • A core of well trained ‘master trainers’ in the MMPW who are specialized in women’s rights and women’s roles in the electoral process following special training workshops and activities.
  • A database of Iraqi women (from ministries and civil society) who wish to participate in the electoral process exists and is overseen by the Ministry of Women Affairs and shared with line ministries and civil society.
  • Civil society organizations' capacities in, leadership, management, strategic planning, monitoring communication, advocacy, and budgeting are built within the content of elections through the provision of special training and support.
  • A large number of women have access to information regarding their rights and civic responsibilities through out reach and establishment of an independent radio station run by the civil society with the support and aid of the Ministry of Culture.
  • Adequate training materials, documentaries, posters, and brochures that advocates for women’s rights and their vital role in the elections are generated and distributed in Iraq. The civil society institutes will take the lead role in producing and distributing the materials.
