The purpose of this unit is to give learners a fundamental understanding of Parkinson’s and its impact on the individual. This is a knowledge only unit.

Learning outcome 1: Describe the common signs, symptoms and progression of Parkinson’s

1.4 Identify and describe the typical phases and timeframe of the progression of Parkinson’s / Written/oral evidence in the form of answers to a case study and/or question paper outlining the typical phases and timeframe of the progression of Parkinson’s
1.5 Identify a range of conditions within parkinsonism / Written/oral evidence in the form of answers to a case study and/or question paper identifying at least 2 conditions

3.3 Describe how an individual’s preferences are taken into account when supporting them to manage their Parkinson’s / Written/oral evidence in the form of written answers to a case study and/or question paper describing howan individual’s preferences are taken into account
3.4 Identify a range of types of local, community and statutory agencies, support services and networks appropriate to the individual with Parkinson’s and describe how to access these / Written/oral evidence in the form of written answers to a case study and/or question paper identifying at least 3 agencies and describing how they may be accessed
