Undergraduate Education (UE) Ambassador Job Description

UE Ambassadors are students who represent high-impact programs coordinated through Undergraduate Education that enhance the UCR educational experience. UE Ambassadors serve as the first point of contact for students to learn about high-impact programs. The ambassadors will engage with students, parents, faculty, and administrators. The ambassadors promote and showcase the professional growth that is experienced by participating in a high-impact program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dedicate five to ten hours per month to the program participating in the following activities.
  • 1 hour monthly meeting.
  • Must attend at least 75% of the scheduled monthly team meetings/education sessions.
  • 1-2 hours workshop presentations and/or marketing activities per week.
  • Peer Mentorship.
  • Development of marketing and social media materials.
  • Present information workshops to classrooms, student groups, campus organizations, etc.
  • Participate in at least two events or activities per quarter.
  • Assist in the promotion of events through social media and other marketing outlets.
  • Represent Undergraduate Education programs at high-profile recruitment events and outreach events.
  • Provide staffing support at major UE events, such as Honors Convocation, Undergraduate Research Symposium, etc.
  • Work individually and as a member of the UE Ambassador Team promote Undergraduate Education programs to fellow students.

Qualifications

  • Open to all majors.
  • Current undergraduate student (sophomore – senior) in good standing.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must be able and willing to represent UCR in a professional and positive manner.
  • Must meet the qualifications and submit a completed application along with a resume and names of two references (references should be a supervisor, RA, coach, instructor, etc.).
  • Must have experience in participating in at least one high-impact program coordinated through Undergraduate Education.

Selection

  • Students from all schools and colleges are encouraged to apply.
  • Applications are due in April.
  • Selection will be made by mid-spring quarter by review of the application and interview by a selection committee along with an observed group activity.
  • Potential Ambassadors must be available to participate in a mandatory program orientation.
  • Potential Ambassadors must be able to serve for a minimum of one year.
