UKSPA Award for Environmental Sustainability

The UKSPA Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of the Science Park and the wider innovation movement in the UK. UKSPA was created by the sector for the sector and has seen its membership grow from the handful of pioneering parks in the 1980s to well over 150 member locations today.

As part of UKSPA’s work to recognise and celebrate the achievements of its Members, partners and tenant companies UKSPA has released the details of the four UKSPA Award categories. Entry is now open and details of the application process and full information on Award criteria is available at http://www.ukspa.org.uk/york-conference-2017

The Awards form part of the activities taking place at the UKSPA/S-Labs Conference at York race Course Conference Centre on 9th and 10th May 2017. The UKSPA Awards complement the S-Labs Awards Programme and the Awards will be presented at the Gala Dinner on Tuesday 9 May 2017 in York.

What happens next?

Shortlisted entrants will be notified by the 19th April 2017. There will be three finalists in each category and each will be highlighted at the Dinner and featured in the Conference Programme. It is hoped that all finalists will attend the Gala Awards Dinner on 9 May 2017.

The UKSPA Award for environmental sustainability
This Award is open to All UKSPA Members, Business Affiliates and Tenant Companies. The applicant must show how they have designed or are operating a building, developed a product or implemented a process that demonstrates the highest levels of environmental sustainability. Examples might include a site or building using new sustainable technologies, a new piece of technology that helps to recycle waste, or a new process that replaces one that presently harms the environment. The proposals will be judged on one or a mix of the following:
• Positive effect upon the global climate
• Potential benefits regionally and nationally
• Economic viability
• Use of new technologies
• Innovative design
