Rain dates are the following day – Sunday. All vendors are expected to vend on rain date. Refunds apply only if both days are cancelled due to bad weather.

All new Food venders must be approved by the Uhuru Flea Market Team. Some considerations are food options, sorts of equipment used.

FOOD LICENSES Required by everyone selling food or drink.

You must have the following licenses to sell food within the City of Philadelphia.

1. Business Privilege License; 2. Food Vendor license; 3. Food Handler Certificate.

We must receive a copy of your valid current operating licenses to be accepted into the flea market.. Phila Licenses &Inspections (L&I) require that you DISPLAY your original licenses during operating hours. All food processes and grills must be inside a tent structure. Food must be kept safely off the ground and on ice as directed by L&I, covered and apart from clientèle. All city/state rules need to be respected by food vendors at these events.

REGISTRATION:

A COMPLETED & SIGNED REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE RECEIVED WITH FULL PAYMENT AND VERBAL OR EMAIL ACCEPTANCE BY THE FLEA COORDINATOR A MINIMUM OF TEN DAYS BEFORE THE FLEA MARKET TO SECURE YOUR SPACE. NO SPACES WILL BE RESERVED WITHOUT PAYMENT.

Payment can be dropped off in sealed envelope to Uhuru Furniture with signed registration form.

We will email or call to confirm your registration ifit arrives at least ten days before the event.

The undersigned hereby forever discharges, holds harmless and releases Uhuru Flea Market, African People’s

Education & Defense Fund, Black Star Industries, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and its agents, beneficiaries, employees and/or volunteers from any and all manner of actions, claims, damages and/or suits, whatsoever arising out of any damage and/or loss to person and/or property of the undersigned while participating in these events.

The undersigned hereby consents to the enforcement of all Rules and Regulations.

NOTE: Setup is from 7am-9am, event is open to public9am to 5pm. Come to registration booth before setting up to get your space assignment. Food Vendors will provide their own tables, tents & displays. We determine the space locations and show you on the morning of the event.

UHURU FLEA MARKET RESERVES THE RIGHT TO EXCLUDE ANY FOOD VENDOR THAT DOES NOT CARRY OUT THESE POLICIES:

1. CHECK-IN ALL FOOD VENDORS MUST CHECK-IN BY 9 AM AT LATEST at the REGISTRATION BOOTH. You must unload into your space by 9:30 am. Have helpers and a dolly to unload your vehicle quickly. Food Vendors provide their own tables, tents and displays.

2. SPACE ASSIGNMENTS Space assignment will be given at the registration check-in booth and volunteers will assist everyone in locating their space. **Note: No generators are allowed.

3. ABSOLUTELY NO DRIVING IN THE PARK, penalties $50.00 plus damages. (Parks and Recreation Dept).

4. UNLOADING - Flea Market coordinators put up No Parking signs for vendors to use to unload on Chester Ave, 43rd St. between Chester & Regent, and Baltimore Ave.It is on a first-come, first-serve basis. We ask vendors to use these spaces to UNLOAD ONLY. Please unload all your items onto the sidewalk rapidly and then go park your car, before setting up your space, so other vendors can come and unload. There is NO double-parking on Chester Ave due to trolleys.

5. GENERAL CLEAN UP FoodVendors are required to leave their spaces clean in order to continue vending at this flea market. Do not leave charcoal anywhere in the park including trash can or in a parking space. You could bring a metal can(s) and take it with you. It is a park, please pack out all empty boxes, bags, leftover food. It is important that we leave the park neat and clean so we can return.

6. RAIN DATES are Sunday, the following day. (Please bring a tarps/plastic for a possible light rain)

Call the Uhuru Flea Market voice mail at 267-875-3532 after 5 am on the scheduled morning of the flea market to find out if a rain date has been called. We make the decision at that time.
