VARSTIY BOYS SOCCER TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

The 2014 Varsity Boy’s Soccer Tournament will be seeded at a meeting at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School on Monday October 6stat 7:00 PM. We ask that a representative from each school be present to participate in the seeding process.

Seeding Process

The process for seeding the Varsity tournament is as follows:

1Packets will be available with each team’s game history for review.

2Each school representative will be given about 2 minutes to discuss their team’s performance this season. Bad mouthing other programs will not be tolerated.

3Each school representative will then be given a form to rank each team; the top team being number 1 and working down.

4The Athletic Directors in charge will then tabulate the results. The team receiving the lowest point total being the 1st seed and the continuing down until the last team is seeded.

5If there is a point total tie this criteria will be used:

  1. A head to head meeting – The winner will receive the higher seed.
  2. The coaches will vote on how the teams will be seeded.

6All seeding forms must be signed by the school representative and with the school’s name.

7Schools that are unable to attend the meeting and do not send a representative will not participate in the process.

8The seeding is not official until it is approved by the UCIAC director.

9We will continue to give the top 4 seeds a bye to the quarterfinals

Tournament Dates

October 8th or 9th – Preliminary Games

October 11th - First RoundGames

October 18th – Quarterfinal Round

October 25th– Semi Final - TBA

November 1 - @ Kean

All games are to be played at the higher seed. If a game is postponed due to rain then and cannot be hosted on a field by the higher seed on the next day then the lower seeded team will have the option of hosting the game.

RULES

Roster – A player may only appear on one roster and cannot participate in both tournaments. Once a player is placed on the varsity roster for this tournament he cannot participate in the JV tournament. This applies even if the varsity team is eliminated, the player cannot then join the JV roster.

All games will be played under NFHS rules and with the exceptions that have been adopted by the NJSIAA.

SOCCER SUSPENDED GAME RULE FOR COUNTY TOURNAMENT GAMES

All tournament games must be played to completion, unless both the Head Coaches and Athletic Directors mutually agree. In the event that a contest is terminated by weather or any force beyond reasonable control, the game must be completed on the subsequent day from the point of termination. Contests must not be terminated due to regional curfew policies.

Procedure for Entering the Tournament

All teams that want to enter the tournament should return a copy of the entry form listing all games up to October 2nd.

A roster must be submitted with the entry form for the tournament.

Athletic Directors will be notified on Tuesday October 7th with the pairings.

JV TOURNAMENT

Entry forms for the JV tournament should be completed and returned with a roster by October 2nd by email. Please try to follow the Varsity schedule. The JV tournament will be seeded by a committee of Athletic Directors and announced on October 7th.

The seeding criteria for the JV will be the following:

-Divisional Record

-County Record

-Overall Record

The seeds for the JV tournament will be announced on Wednesday October 2nd.
