ZAGREB TIME MACHINEBEGINS THIS WEEKEND

Zagreb,April 11th, 2013–Starting from this weekenduntilSeptember 29th, the squares and streets in the center of Zagreb, as well as Maksimir Park, will, once again, be filled with song and dance. Promenade concerts and a variety of other events will be held, for the 6th year in a row,as part of the Zagreb Tourist Board's project “Zagreb Time Machine”.

“Zagreb Time Machine”brings together nine events, which each in their own way show Zagreb's history and customs.

So, from this Friday, April 12th, from 8 am to 1 pm, at Dolac market you can meet Countrywomen from Dolac that every Friday and Saturday, dressed in traditional costumes sell seasonal fruits, vegetables, etc., thus, reviving the memory of the thousands of women who for centuries were feeding our citizens.

On Saturday, April 13th, “Kraljevi ulice” will officially open the Promenade concerts, which have been held for 14 years, every Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm, at the Music Pavilion on Zrinjevac Square.At the same time, but on Sundays, Promenade Concerts in Maksimir Park will be held at the Belvedere, in performance of the Strauss Salon Music Ensemble.

Every Saturday, from 10 am to noon and Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm, members of various folklore ensembles will bring the customs of Zagreb and its surrounding area to life in the heart of Zagreb - on Kaptol, in Tkalčićeva Street, at the Dolac market and on Ban Josip Jelačić Square, gifting visitors with traditional delicacies and home-grown fruit.

In the morning hours on weekends, in the streets of the Upper Town, you can enjoy in the Upper Town Musical Panorama,by listening to traditional and love songs sung by street performers. Saturdays, from 5 pm to 8 pm you can find yourself in a company of the characters from old Zagreb’s stories (such as knights, guardsmen, postman…)who all make a part of the Upper Town In The Past manifestation,

As of April 13th,every Saturday and Sunday, you can also see The Changing Of The Guard of the Honorary Cravat Regiment, starting from St Mark's Squareat noon.

From the end of June, onThursdays, Fridays and Saturdays visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of the street performers of the Tkalčijana Festival in Tklačićeva Street and from the beginning of July the Dance Evenings will be held on Zrinjevac Square every Friday.
