How to Use EconLit
EconLit is the primary database for articles on Economics, also covering book chapters and working papers.
Type your search in the boxes. We will search for “housing slump”.
Note that the pulldown menu next to the box allows you to limit your search to Author, Subject, Source, and so on.
Additional search options are provided in the Search Options box.
On the lower half of the page there are additional ways of refining your search, such as Full Text, Date, and Publication type. Mou
When you are done making your selections, click the Search button to the right of the box.
On the Search Results screen, on the left, there are other ways to narrow your search, such as date or source Mouse Over or by additional subject headings
An easy way to limit your results by date is to use the scroll bar on the right side of the screen..
We will limit our results to Journal Articles published from 2000 onwards.
If an article has the term PDF or Linked Full Text attached to it, it is available Full Text.
If an article has no mention of text at all, click on the yellow, get it at BU button. This button will tell you if the article is available full-text in another database, or it will provide a link to the Library catalog for a paper copy of the article.
The Get it at BU button works well when finding articles, but does not always work well when trying to find Books, Collective Volume Articles, Working Papers, or Dissertations. To find the availability of these items, you may need to look under the book title, the collective volume (not article) title, working paper series title, or the dissertation title in the Libraries’ catalog.
To print or e-mail your search results, click on the Add to Folder link under the article citations.
Then, click on the “Folder” icon at the top of the page.
From here, you can Print, E-Mail, Save, or Export. To get your citations into RefWorks, click the Select button and hit the Export icon.
Then, click on the Direct Export to RefWorks button and hit Save.
If you need additional help with EconLit, click on the Ask a Librarian link which is at the top of the page.
