Two magnificent homes vie for the 2013 HIA Gold Coast and Northern Rivers top housing award

The 2013 HIA - JELD-WEN Gold Coast/Northern Rivers Home of the Year has been won by Northern Rivers builder, Heanes Built.

The winning home is an architecturally designed residence located in an elevated position encompassing magnificent views of Byron Bay and the Tweed Coast. Some of the special features include a five metre high library, staircase to heaven and an infinity pool. The use of rammed earth pavilion walls combined with massive timbers and an attention to detail makes this building unique.

Running a very close second and joint winner for Gold Coast and Northern Rivers Custom Built Home with Heanes Built, was Rodney James Builder. The judges said this was an exceptionally built home in the $1m to $2m Custom Built Homes category. Both homes will progress to the respective State judging in NSW and Queensland.

Steve Kerr Builders won Custom Built Home $1m to $2m category against hot competition with the judges commenting “this home is floating on the hill”.

Adrian Hill Developments won Custom Built Home in the $750 to $1m category with a well-designed home boasting a high level of fixtures, fitting and landscaping which compliments the spacious alfresco entertainment area.

Brett Ward Homes won $500,001 to $750,000 Custom Built Home category with a home that truly embodies the Gold Coast resort-style living.

Kirra Homes won $300,001 to $500,000 Custom Built Home category which was constructed to Vastu or Vedic Principles of architecture and achieved an excellent result given the local planning and land size constraints.

Alliance Homes won the Custom Built Home up to $300,000 with a stylish and highly functional design for family living and the providing privacy when needed.

Engima Interiors won Kitchen Design, Kitchen Project and Kitchen over $50,000 with Judges comments like: “Ingenious angled designed, cleverly detailed and a beautifully renovated kitchen”.

Winners of the Kitchen Projects include: Blue Bay Kitchens and Alliance Homes.

The Bathroom Project and Design categories were won by Natural Designer Homes, Alliance Homes and Natural Designer Homes again. Dean Kenward received the Apprentice Award for 2013.
