TWELFTH ANNUAL – H.E.R.B.I.E AWARD APPLICATION

The H.E.R.B.I.E. award is inspired by Saint Paul native and hockey legend Herb Brooks. The qualities and attributes HERBIE stands for are Humanitarian, Enterprising, Resilient, Bold, Inspirational and Ethical.

The recipients of the Individual H.E.R.B.I.E. Award and the Company H.E.R.B.I.E Award must have demonstrated exemplary dedication to the community through significant public service.

A person nominated for the Individual H.E.R.B.I.E. Award must live or work in the Saint Paul/East Metro area. A company nominated for the Company H.E.R.B.I.E Award must be a member in good standing (over one year) with the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce. Through their service to the community, the individual or business must have made a significant contribution by fostering a climate of excellence that enhanced the Saint Paul/East Metro area, creating a desirable place to live and work.

1.)  How has the individual or company contributed to the Saint Paul/East Metro area and demonstrated the following qualities:

Humanitarian – demonstrates support to the community through philanthropy and/or volunteer work that makes the Saint Paul/East Metro area a better place to live

Enterprising – has shown that they are resourceful and successful in business (must be established for 3 years as an organization to be eligible)

Resilient – evidence of strong character in the face of adversity while providing flexibility for themselves and others to succeed.

Bold – courageous, daring and willing to take risks when others don’t. Stands up for those that are not able to be heard.

Inspirational – demonstrates an attitude that is hopeful; showing confidence and support that creates a sense of optimism

Ethical – follows the principles that are right, fair, decent and just
