WPES News Crew Application
WPES is a daily news show produced by 4th and 5th grade students. The students take on various roles such as set creator, sound board operator, director, script writer, anchors, and camera technicians. You will also have your picture and video image posted on-line. Anchors will be required to come in after school or before 8:10AM to prepare the script for the next day. There are limited spaces for News Crew members, so make sure you can commit to being dependable and on time.
I will…
- be in the studio NO LATER THAN 8:10 A.M. on scheduled days.
- attend script preparation after school (2:50-3:10, Wed. 1:50-2:10, or before 8:10AM).
- learn and perform all jobs in the studio.
- maintain good grades, as approved by teacher(s).
- maintain excellent behavior in all classes and school events.
I understand that I will be removed from the crew at any time a teacher or other staff member has concerns about either my behavior or my academic grades. Once removed from the crew, I understand that I cannot be placed back on the crew.

To complete this application you will need to create a PowerPoint Audition. The PowerPoint show will need to include the following details…
- 5 slides, no more, no less
- At least one photograph of yourself
- At least one video
- At least one clipart
- Nicely designed background or theme
The PowerPoint should include answers to the following questions.
- Why would you like to be on WPES?
- Do you have any experience with a video camera or performing in front of an audience? Please explain what experience you have.
- What is your experience with making and editing videos? Include the name of software that you know how to use.
You may get help from an adult when completing your audition. Please do not include any copyright materials in your presentation. Once your PowerPoint is done, you will need to submit it to Mrs. Ayrish Booysen on Edmodo or via e-mail. Please hand in the top of this form IN PERSON to the Media Center by December 11, 2015. At that time, you will be given the Edmodo group code in order to submit the PowerPoint which will be due December 17, 2015.
If you are not chosen for a January crew, we will hold your application for March. Fourth grade students will be training to start the next school year during the 4th Nine weeks.
