TURVEY ALLOTMENT INFORMATION SHEET

Opening Times:

May to August 20108.00am – 9.30pm

Gates:

The inner gates should be closed at all times. Allotment holders have been issued with a key to these gates. The procedure is that you should close these gates every time you drive in or out of the allotments. THEY SHOULD NOT BE LEFT OPEN AS THIS ALLOWS ANYONE TO DRIVE INTO THE AREA. If you find they are left open, please close them.

Car Parking:

There are 2 x car parks

(1)Main Car park (just inside main entrance). This car park is available for public use and allotment holders use. Please note there have been a few incidents, so ensure your car is well secured and no personal belongings left in sight.

(2)Allotment holders car park. This is located within the allotments and is a smaller car park dedicated to the use of allotment holders only.

Speed Limit:

Speed limit is 5 K/ph – please drive carefully. They are not roads within the allotments, but an access pathway to a carpark. This amenity is always a hive of activity with families and children walking about. There is no need to speed through the allotments. SLOW DOWN AND HEED YOUR SPEED.

Water Stations:

There is 1 x water station to every 5 x allotments. Please note, some attachments on the taps may not be compatible with your hose.

HOZELOCK:If you have a Hozelock hose (most commonly

Used) the tap connector reference is 2041

(threaded tap connector). Woodies and B & Q

stock these.

We have found that the water pressure is really good, however on some taps if you unscrew the connector, you may find a number of small stones. So if your water pressure is poor, check for obstructions in the tap.

PLEASE NOTE – WATER IS NOT FIT FOR DRINKING AS IT IS GROUND WATER. IT IS SUITABLE FOR USE ON CROPS ONLY.

Also be mindful of your neighbours when using a hose, and don’t hog the taps!!

Toilets:

There are 2 toilet cubicles located in the Allotment car park (inner car park) for your use.

Neighbourhood Watch:

Please always keep watch for anything unusual. There have been a few incidents. please be vigilant and don’t leave any valuable garden implements around. Again ensure that the gates are shut. They should not be left open.

Noticeboard:

Plans are afoot to erect a noticeboard at the entrance to the allotments. In the meantime if you have any notices to post, they can be printed, laminated and placed on the wire fencing. Also please email us with any events / information you have and we will publish on the website.

Rabbits:

Rabbits and Hares are thriving in the area and currently the allotments are not fully rabbit proofed. It is up to you to ensure that you install fencing around your allotment. Please remember, these creatures are skilled burrowers, so you might want to ensure the fencing / wire is a few inches into the ground.
