SCC Training report
Agenda needs to be posted in 7-10 days before meeting for people to see and request additional items as needed
Purpose is to determine if we are using our trust fund money for academic success

Union's new/improved website is up and running - CC minutes/agendas will be on it tomorrow
Academic Reward Program - Mary Anderson
Cookie Cards handed out to students not missing any work over a 2 week period
If they have A's and B's in all their classes, they will still get a cookie card
Works for seasoned students but not for failing students
Parents and students are motivated to get the recognition and cookie cards more so now that they have been handed out once so far this year.
Halloween Activities - Mary Anderson
Everyone had to choose ONE activity for the 45 minute activity time
Dance was for 7th and 8th graders - well attended and nice since there were less people there
Monsters University Movie was a huge success with 6th graders
Pumpkin Coloring - 45 kids loved it and none were found on the side walk
Rock bank video game - maybe get more than one system going
Computer labs - not as popular
Poe & Frankenstein - 2 girls came
Study Hall - none
950 cookies handed out at the doors
Valentine Activity Plans - Mary Anderson
6th graders will be invited to the Valentine Dance
Have Hillary Larson, current dance instructor at Union, teach them 2 line dances during their PE classes over the next few months

Actual Results: MCAP - 32% increase, MCOMP - 22% increase in proficiency
ALEX system working for assessing and tailoring an education plan - math lab & home based math help
80% of kids on benchmark MCAP and 70% on MCOMP proficiency

Each student 30 Gigs of space
Students can store all assignments on it - including videos/presentations/etc.
Complete the assignments on CSDDOCS and submit them on Canvas

Students can't set up Facebook with this email, etc. Nothing in and nothing gets out - only internal

Bobcat Scholar Program - Nate Edvalson
For last 4 years we have had the Bobcat Scholar program - mirrors Sterling Scholar program
9 areas: Eng, math, science, ss, visual arts, dance, theatre, etc.
$150 scholarship to students - USEP account - $1500 total
4 out of 8 Bobcat Scholars applied and got the Sterling Scholar at High school last year
Maybe shift to 8th grade??? Same areas?
