  1. Confirmation of Minutes of Monthly Meeting held on the 23rd September 2013.

The minutes of the Area Committee meeting held on the 23rd September 2013 were confirmed on the proposal of Cllr J V Farrelly and seconded by Cllr O Fox.

  1. To consider the attached Notice under S183 for the disposal of land at Carlanstown Cowpark by way of lease to St Michael’s GFC and recommend to full Council for agreement.

  1. To consider the attached Notice under S183 for the disposal of land at Carlanstown Cowpark by way of licence to Carlanstown Community Development Group and recommend to full Council for agreement.

Reports

  • Housing

A report was circulated to the members and the following issues raised:

  • Mountdutton Close – can council be updated on current project. Cllr. Fox informed members it was very successful and is going on in three more housing estates.
  • Sanitary

A report was circulated to the members.

  • Planting to be finished around Kilmanhamwood as part of the contract.
  • Problem with water in the Kells Area over the weekend – members have requested if they can receive text messages informing them when water is off.
  • The above will be raised with water services.
  • Roads

Report circulated and the members raised the following:

  • Cllr. Farrelly complimented the staff on all works completed.
  • L-68173 Stonefield Road, section in need of repair.
  • L-6812 Ballinacree to Cavan Border, section in need of repair.
  • Fennor Road – update on contractor re-doing the road
  • Rathendrick to Clonagowna, works done previously and needs to be looked at again.
  • Carnaross Village to Cavan border – number of potholes.
  • McGees Cross at Seymourstown Ballinlough – heavy traffic due to Cattle Mart and large amount of potholes – this needs to be addressed.
  • Jonesboro Cross – any plans for resurfacing.
  • Milltown to Fordstown potholes need to be looked at.
  • Barley Hill Cross into Louth potholes.
  • Newcastle to Moynalty potholes.
  • Athboy Road to Rathcairn needs to be sealed – locals did works on it.
  • Ballinclieve potholes are very bad.

The area engineer responded as follows:

  • The contractor has agreed to make good the road in Fennor.
  • At present staff are finishing restoration works and then starting to prioritise reps submitted on potholes along with other issues of flooding, drainage, trees etc
  • Kilmanham Lane drainage starting today.
  1. Any other business raised with the permission of the Cathaoirleach
  • Area engineer advised that the roads programme for 2014 will be reviewed and members to forward in roads for review. Update to be brought to the November meeting.
