Taste the Waste film - Katka confirmed that Steve still has the DVD, has sent a request for a licence through the e-mail on the Film web page, haven't received any answer, will try through Facebook.
The food waste cafe event. This was t have an event which showed us how to set up a cafe which uses waste food from supermarkets to serve food, based on one already existing and run by a transition town group in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. Helentalked to the member ofFishguard transition town group with whom she has been liaising but they are unable to send anyone so we are not going to put on this planned event. It was proposed that instead we mightorganise a trip to Fishguard for a demo. We might ask for recipes. Some food still must be bought by the cafe, eg staples. They are having anOpen Day in late autumn. If we were to have such an event,Cwmdu restaurant only seats 19. Pat Bazzard who works there would be up for it. Upsetting the politics of local shops was a caution mentioned by Fishguard: Don't antagonise anyone. Helen doesn't have time to organise such an event in July. We discussed whether we should have such an event at the YMCA in Llandovery. It was mentioned that Jill Chapman at YMCA Llandovery works with the local food bank. Pat DR said nutrition and the poor is a real problem. Helen volunteered to do organise something in Llandovery sometime after having moved to the town. However Pat said she would be able to do it earlier.
Damien
We welcomed a new member to the steering group. Damien lives in Llangadog, has two kids, worksin civil engineering supplies. Home educates their kids. Is going to be living in a small holding on the common land.Offers general support. WELCOME!
Hustings review
This event went very well. There was a largeattendance and a very high standard of debate. We also received goodpublicity in local paper. We regretted that the Green candidate did not come. Thanks were extended to Neil Lewis for chairing so well and to Steve and John for organising.
This Changes Everything film show
Civic Hall has been booked for this on 11 June, but DT is to check that the projector is working a few days before. Film booked. Donations will be asked for. The cost of the hall is high. Pat said shecan come, Helen, David, Damien. It was suggested that a spokesperson from FoECymru could be invited for a discussion afterwards. DT has written to them. We wondered ifJohn, Steve, Sue can do refreshments. £3 suggested fee. Raffle? Everyone is asked to please bring prizes. Bit of an experiment doing it on Saturday night.
Party in the Park event stall
This is organised by the local Council for the middle of June. Pat, Helen and David cannot make it. We hope thatKatka can make it. We wanted to ask Sue W. if she could come as well; a rota would be needed to share responsibility. Damien said hewill come if not stocktakng. No cost. We resolved toinvite Incredible Edible Carmathenshire and do a seed planting activity.
Katka's email
Anson sent a reply that it would be best to contact Karen Eberhardt-Shelton directly. She hasn't had time to do it last week, will do this week.
Green Carmarthenshire event report
David gave a report on attendance at this event, which was good, but could have been better attended.
Finance update
Pat: £967.34 in the bank.
DT will stick the FB post re payment button at page top. He has done this.
Pat will check PayPal account.
AOB
We get a lot of requests for us to do things but lack sufficient personpower to do everything that everybody suggests. We said that we would be happy to support anyone who contacted us and who wants to apply for funding for particular projects. Funding is presently available for community renewable energy and fitness in the community.
We were told that the Llandeilo station hub is about to open.
We wondered if there is a food bank in Llandeilo? There are in Llandovery, Ammanford, Carmarthen, Llanelli. If there is a need, it could be established there, and food taken down the Heart of Wales line.
Next meeting
Tues June 7 Angel Inn, 7.30pm.
