The Constitution

Because the constitution for the cheerleaders is a school board policy, all cheerleaders are required to follow them. Once selected, a copy of this constitution will be given to you. However, it is impossible to design regulations and a constitution to address all potential situations that might arise. Therefore, it must be understood that the principal and coach reserve the right to make final judgments regarding any action that may be considered inappropriate by an individual on the cheerleading squad. Certain infractions could involve suspension or expulsion from the squad.

Other Requirements

·  Students trying out for cheerleader must sign up to try out during the time announced. All students planning to try-out should sign up with the coach and turn all paperwork and money by the given due date. NO LATE SIGN UPS WILL BE ALLOWED!

·  Students and parents must attend a parent meeting to go over the guidelines. If the student and parent do not attend the meeting it will be understood that you will fully cooperate with the requirements if your child should become a Bryant High School cheerleader.

·  Students and parents must sign a contract agreement stating that they understand that cheerleading WILL TAKE PRIORITY over ALL non-school related activities. (i.e. summer camps, work, dancing, gymnastics, other sports, etc.)

·  Students will pay the required fee, $20.00, to help pay for judges for tryouts. Make check payable to Bryant High School.

·  Current 8th graders will only be allowed to try out for JV cheerleading. Current 10th and 11th graders will only be allowed to try out for Varsity cheerleading. Current 9th graders will be eligible to try out for either JV or Varsity cheerleading.

·  Any girls chosen for JV or Varsity may be considered for competition squad. Competition squad is not mandatory.

Approximate Cost of Cheerleading

·  Each cheerleader is responsible for providing her/his own uniforms and supplies. The cost for one school year is approximately $1500.00 for varsity and $1000 for JV. This includes:

ü  Summer Camp (all cheerleaders are required to be at all pre-camp practices once they are selected as BHS cheerleaders; all cheerleaders are required to attend camp)

ü  Camp Outfits (approximately 4)

ü  Shoes

ü  Warm Up Outfit

ü  Pom-Poms

ü  Game Uniforms

ü  Rain Jacket

ü  Cheer bag

ü  Letterman Jacket (varsity only)

ü  Megaphone (varsity only)

·  We must have a $400.00 deposit to order uniforms. This money will be due before the uniform fitting (February 27) should your child make the cheerleading squad.

Fundraisers:

Cheerleaders are required to participate in all fundraisers. Money that has been earned through fundraisers on behalf of BHS Cheerleaders may not be returned to a cheerleader for personal use for any reason. If a cheerleader should quit or be dismissed for any reason, the money in her account will be absorbed into the general fund to be used toward the benefit of the squad.

ALL BILLS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE CHEERLEADERS ATTEND CAMP. IT IS OUR POLICY NOT TO GIVE OUT MERCHANDISE, SUCH AS UNIFORMS, BEFORE THEY ARE PAID IN FULL.

ANY MONEY THAT IS PAID FOR A STUDENT TO BECOME A CHEERLEADER IS NON-REFUNDABLE SHOULD THAT STUDENT BE DISMISSED FOR ANY REASON THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

BHS Principal

I will attend every cheerleading clinic the week before tryouts. I will participate and show the attitude that a cheerleader should have. If I miss school any of those days, then I will not be allowed to attend clinic. If I do not attend the clinic, then I will not be allowed to try out for the cheerleading squad at Bryant High School. I will not use my cell phone during clinic or during try outs. I realize that if I make the squad I will have to abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the Mobile County Public School System and my coach.
