YOU MUST HAVE AN UPDATED PHYSICAL

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE A CURRENT PHOTO

Try-outs are May 5th-7th 5:30-8:00pm in the Slantdome

SCHEDULE:

Monday May 5th 5:30-8:00pm -Clinic Day

(Candidates will be taught a short dance and a sideline cheer, introduced to jumps and tumbling.)

Tuesday May 6th 5:30-8:00pm-Clinc Day

(Continue to practice dance and cheer; continue to work on jumps and tumbling; introduce some stunting)

Wednesday May 7th 5:30-8:00pm-Tryout Day

(IMPORTANT: Plan for candidates to stay until the end. Come with food…etc. We may be having call backs.)

**If you cannot make any or all of these days (for an excused reason) it will be the candidate’s responsibility to learn the material for the dance and cheer.

** We will have a makeup tryout day for those who need it.

Tryout Information--please read carefully

Tryout scores based on the following:

o  MOTION TECHNIQUE (sharpness, execution, placement)

o  SPIRIT (facial expressions, eye contact, enthusiasm, smile)

o  VOICE (loud, sharp, deep, articulate)

o  OVERALL CHEER SCORE(includes motions, spirit, voice & execution)

o  APPERANCE (hair, clothing, no jewelry, NO EXPOSED MIDRIFFS, natural makeup.)

o  JUMPS (toe-touch, pike, hurdler; any jump with tumbling if possible.)

o  SHORT DANCE (technique, rhythm, dance ability)

o  TUMBLING (running & standing; technique and execution important)

o  ACADEMICS (must be in good academic standing with school)

o  TRYOUT APPLICATION FORM (must be completed and turned in by the first day of clinics.)

o  ATTITUDE (This is VERY important. Follow rules of this tryout packet; turn off cell phones--no texting or calling during the tryouts; exhibit the qualities of a supportive teammate to candidates, coaches, and judges; engage in positive and productive conversations, be respectful to all.)

** Please do not be intimidated if you are unfamiliar with any of the cheer terminology used in this info packet. We will explain the basics to everyone during the clinic. Please feel free to ask questions and ask for help. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR J

CHECK LIST: What to bring to clinic days and to tryouts!

o  As you arrive feel free to start stretching on your own.

o  Completed application form. Bring on 1st day of clinics( May 5th)

o  Comfortable black shorts, white/blue/black t-shirt and athletic shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS OR SANDALS)

o  Hair must be tied up and away from your face; this includes bangs. ON TRYOUT DAY PLEASE WEAR A BOW (May 7th)—no headbands of any kind.

o  Fresh youthful make up.

o  No gum or jewelry on any of the days.

o  Large bottled water.

o  Any questions: after you have fully read the handout.

o  A big smile and a positive attitude…and of course SPARTAN SPIRIT!
