TRUSTEE VACANCY: HONORARY TREASURER

Introduction

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is the only UK wide charity to exclusively meet the needs of the growing numbers of people at risk from severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) by providing information and support relating to foods and other triggers such as latex, drugs and insect stings.

Our ultimate aim is to create a safe environment for all people with allergies by educating the food industry, schools, pre-schools, colleges, health professionals and other key audiences. Our focus is on medical facts, food labelling, risk reduction and allergen management.

The Campaign provides tailored services for individual members, clinical and healthcare professional members and also has a corporate membership programme.

Hon.Treasurer Role

We are seeking to appoint an Hon.Treasurer to work with the Board and oversee all financial aspects of the Charity’s operation to help secure its financial stability and future sustainability.

As a Trustee of the Campaign, the Hon. Treasurer has a shared legal responsibility for the overall management and decision-making of the charity. The Campaign is governed through its Memorandum and Articles of Association and is a registered Company (Reg. No. 4133242) as well as a Charity (Reg. No. 1085527).

In addition to the responsibilities which are generic to all Trustees, the role of Hon. Treasurer provides financial advice and support in respect of the operational financial management of the Campaign, working closely with the Business Manager and Chief Executive.

The successful applicant will have a qualification in Management/Financial Accountancy, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management and excellent communication skills. They will be required to attend Board meetings, held approx. quarterly throughout the year, and a Trustees’ Awayday. Most of these meetings are held in London, one Board meeting is held in Farnborough, where the Campaign office is located. An annual meeting with the Business Manager is also desirable, and ad hoc advice from time to time may also be required.
