Attention: Voting Members of TIGS
The following changes to the Charter have been proposed by the committee charged by the Preseident of TIGS to update the charter. Paid members in good standing may vote for or against these changes.

The Current Mission Statement is:
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Troy Irish Genealogy Society is to discover, share and honor the heritage of our Troy Area Irish families through monthly meetings, our website and participation of our members.
The Proposed changes are in red italics:
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Troy Irish Genealogy Society is to discover, share and honor the heritage of our Troy Area Irish and Non-Irish families. We provide technical and personal assistance and encouragement through monthly meetings, Social Media, the TIGS email list and participation of our members in genealogy-related activities; and to transcribe and provide free access on our website of local historical records of interest to genealogy researchers.

ARTICLE 4 – OFFICERS AND ELECTIONS
1. The Officers of TIGS shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, TIGS List Administrator and TIGS Webmaster. Additional officers, as may be deemed necessary in the future, shall be elected by a majority vote of the active members.
3. Elections will be held annually on line with all dues paying members eligible to vote. Elections will be held each May and dates will be set by the outgoing President. There will be a two-week period allowed for members to vote.

1. The Officers of TIGS shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, List Administrator, Webmaster, Project Coordinator and Membership Chairperson. Additional officers, as may be deemed necessary in the future, shall be elected by a majority vote of the active members.

ARTICLE 5 – DUTIES OF OFFICERS
There is no current charge, this is the addition of two new Officer's and their Duties

7. The PROJECT COORDINATOR shall:
a. Develop, propose, oversee and promote TIGS projects as related to preservation and transcription of records.
8. The MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON shall:
a. Answer general research questions, received from the website link.
b. Follow up with meeting guests and absent local members, to encourage membership and meeting attendance.
c. Oversee the FACEBOOK social media site for TIGS.

ARTICLE 7 – AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER
Current charge:
The CHARTER may be amended by a two-thirds of the votes cast. Changes to the CHARTER must be submitted at a meeting and receive approval from those in attendance. The Secretary will inform the Webmaster who will post the new proposal to the TIGS website with the election dates. At least one month will be given for the dues paying members to vote on the proposal. TheTreasurer will provide a list of the members, with their e-mail addresses, to the List Administratorfor voting verification.

The CHARTER will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the President, and conducted every five (5) years.The CHARTER may be amended by a two-thirds of the votes cast. Changes to the CHARTER must be submitted at a meeting and receive approval from those in attendance. The Secretary will inform the Webmaster who will post the new proposal to the TIGS website with the election dates. At least one month will be given for the dues paying members to vote on the proposal. The Treasurer will provide a list of the members, with their e-mail addresses, to the List Administrator for voting verification.

Dues will be assessed yearly and will cover from January 1 through December 31 each year.

ARTICLE 9 – MEMBERSHIP
Current charge:
There will be two types of TIGS members to:
1. Full members – those who have paid annual dues. Full members are eligible to vote on the election of officers.
2. Associate members – those who have not paid annual dues. Associate members are not eligible to vote in elections or hold office, but may participate in TIGS meetings, activities, projects, list and website.
Propose changes in red italics:
TIGS members are defined as those who have paid their annual dues. Members are eligible to vote on the election of officers and proposed charter changes.
