Troop 1288 Committee Meeting Minutes

October 11, 2011

Members Present: Bernard Peck, Ron Taylor, Holly Meredith, Shelli Bell, Debra Lemons, Louis Meneghetti, Tracy Rumsey-Riley, Erika Meneghetti.

Review minutes of the 9/20/2011 Committee Meeting –Louis Meneghetti motioned to accept the minutes and Tracy Rumsey-Riley seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Financial Report – Shelli Bell reported the following financial information:

  • Review Prior Month’s Financials:

  • Cash Balance at Sept 30, 2011 was $27,381

  • Cash less Total Liabilities was $6,866.

  • Scout Account Receivables were $1,038.

  • Outstanding Items:

  • September Campout - Waiting on GM Receipts

  • The Matthew J. Schmitt Memorial fund was at $3,001.

  • NYLT - Sponsorship for P.Meneghetti $225.

  • Donation from Troop for $225.

  • Review 2011 Budget:

  • Total Income Statement up $1,472 vs Budget.

  • Income is up $248 vs Budget.

  • Dues are up $372 for 7 scouts who have joined this year.

  • Donations are down for the year by $139

  • Expenses are down $1224 vs Budget.

  • Awards Expenses are down $658 potentially for Eagle award expenses that haven't be submitted.

  • Flags Expenses are down $462 as previously indicated by Steve Zoeller partly because of refurbishment of flags in 2010.

  • Equipment Expenses (other than tents) are down $368 which was carried as an offset for the new tents in prior months.

  • Amount approved to purchase new tents broken out from other Equipment Expenses.

  • Upcoming / Open Items:

  • Attempting to Collect from 4 Inactive Scouts: ~$350

  • Winter Camp

  • Summer Camp 2012

Motion to accept the financial information was offered by Louis Meneghetti and seconded by Debra Lemons.

Class B Shirts, 1288 Patches, and Name Tags – Holly Meredith reported that the shirt supply is in good shape. Ron ordered 10 sets of books, mess kits, epilates, neckerchiefs and slides.

Flag Sales Update–Steve was not at the meeting. Bernard reported there may be a scout leaving 1288 that is still putting out our flags.

Next Court of Honor - 10/25/2011

Pot Luck –Ms. Lemons/Meneghetti will head this up.

Scout Master Report – Bernard

Reviews of Activities:

  • Oct 7-9 Huntsville State Park – 12 scouts and 10 adults. There were 12 Webelo 2’s and 6 of them stayed overnight.

Future Activities:

  • Nov 4-6 Lake Livingston. There may be availability for horseback riding. We will still do fishing and canoeing etc.
  • December 3 Frosty Fest – service project
  • Dec 16-17 Troop Lock-In
  • Dec 26-31 Winter Camp Strake – 9 scouts already registered. We have 1 scout going to NYLT – Paul Meneghetti. Kevin Taylor and Weston Rothe will be on the waiting list.
  • January 10 – Court of Honor
  • January 20 – Webelo Woods @ Camp Brosig
  • February 17th – 19th Enchanted Rock
  • Feb 25 – Texas A&M merit badge fair. *Registration s open and due in December
  • March 3rd – Texas Skies Merit Badge Fair
  • March 10th – Family Day Park Outing at George Bush Park
  • March 30 – Camporee
  • April 20- 22 – Camp Karankwa
  • May 12th – Rock Gym
  • June 21-July 1st Summer Camp – Ben Delatour in Colorado. Hoping for 20 boys and 6 adults. We will rent vans to travel.

Old Business

NYLT Registration for three Scouts two are on waitlist.

High Adventure: Northern Tier – Jerry Update. The committee agreed to put in for a draw to Philmont and Northern Tier.

Steve reports that Congressman McCall is still willing to provide the flags that have flown over the White House.

New Business / Adjournment

Ron requested that we invite Webelo II’s who attended the Huntsville State Park (free of charge) to the Court of Honor. Holly Meredith motioned to accept the proposal and Louis Meneghetti seconded. Motion passes.

Louis presented the plaque for the Matthew J. Schmitt Memorial to the committee. We will request that the plaque be hung in the family center.

Louis Meneghetti motioned to adjourn the meeting and Ron Taylor seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 8pm.
