Tribal Solid Waste Education and Assistance Program
Designing and Using a Tribal Solid Waste Management Plan
The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals is offering "Designing and Using A Tribal Solid Waste Management Plan" course in Lawrence, Kansas, September 19-21, 2017, for employees of federally-recognized Tribes. It is designed for Tribal staff just developing a plan, or updating an existing plan.
This course is being done in cooperation with the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, and will feature lectures on the five critical elements of a Tribal Solid Waste Management Plan, small group work focused on developing an outline of your plan or making improvements to your existing one, discussion with instructors and your fellow attendees, and a tour of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation’s solid waste facilities and operations. There will also be time set aside for presentations by other staff at the Tribe about the role played by the judiciary and linking waste management activities with broader cultural preservation projects.
This course will be limited to twenty participants. We anticipate a high degree of interest in this course, so a maximum of two applications from any one Tribe will be considered. We will be reviewing all applications as we receive them, and select the successful applicants. So the more information you provide on your application the better your chances are for being selected. Those individuals selected to attend the course will have their lodging expenses covered by ITEP and will be reimbursed for their travel and per diem expenses after the course.
If you are interested in applying for this course please submit the following application to ITEP via email or fax. Given the special opportunities in this class we anticipate it will fill up quickly, so the sooner you submit your application the better you chances of being accepted!
