1.  Welcome & Introductions

Robin Reynolds called the meeting to order at 9:34 a.m. Introductions of those in attendance were made.

Review & Approval of January 12, 2017 Meeting Minutes

A.  Assignment of Secretary to Take the Minutes

Julie Engel agreed to take the minutes

2.  Tribal Chair's Report – Robin reported she is soliciting members, recognizing new member Yvonne Koehler. Robin is speaking with Maria Dadgar in joining AAED and the Tribal Committee. Lena Fowler from the Navajo Nation is currently a member serving on the Gov’t Affairs Committee and is considering joining the Tribal Committee as well.

Kari McCormick is going to follow-up with the Universities.

3.  Review of Annual Survey – Discussion ensued regarding the Tribal portion of the Annual Survey. It appears there is a lack of recognition and knowledge of the Committee and a possible solution is utilizing the PR committee to post monthly updates regarding committee activities. Two topics were suggested for upcoming publications. The introduction of new leadership for Tribal, the goal of partnering with Education, Rural and Government Affairs committees with a solicitation to the membership to join the Tribal Committee. The Second item would be the upcoming Tax Class that and the inclusion of Tribal content.

Question #3 responses were expected. Question #4 was discussed regarding a single topic /interest to focus on as a committee, which can garner a positive meaningful outcome and gain momentum for the Tribal Committee. One topic discussed was broadband and the lack of service in Rural and remote Tribal Communities.

4.  Professional Education Report - Robin reported she is working with the ED Committee to integrate tribal components/content into existing classes with the upcoming tax class as the first inclusion.

A.  Call for New Tribal/Professional Education Liaison – Joe McClure volunteered to serve as the Education Liaison

5.  Tribal Symposium Subcommittee Report – Robin reported she is working with the Education Committee to add the Symposium as an accredited course of the AZED Pro.

A.  Discussion of Content – Speaker and agenda will be flushed out this month.

B.  Discussion of Call for Case Studies - Soliciting case studies and speakers for the symposium to be held June 13, 2017, several suggestions were made and the symposium sub- committee agreed to hold a meeting Tuesday February 14, 2017, after the AAED Luncheon

6.  New Business

A.  Rural/Tribal Partnership Opportunities –

Tribal and Rural will collaborate on upcoming events, including a combined roundtable at the Spring Conference. Two regional roundtables are scheduled and opportunities to partner are being discussed.

B.  Increasing Tribal Member Involvement – Robin reported she resurrected an old list of Tribal participants and is using this information as a recruitment tool to the Tribal Committee. A discussion regarding the re-establishment of the relationship with Kim Kanuho.

The potential of having a benefit sponsorship from a Business for AAED membership was discussed and Julie Engel volunteered to speak with Jennifer Graves regarding the task force that is considering similar concepts.

7.  Announcements – Bridgette reminded everyone that the EDDE Awards submittal deadline was rapidly approaching and the Tribal Member of the Year award could use some nominations.

Phoenix luncheon is next Tuesday – Autonomous Cars and Cornhole Tournament is Friday with 60 teams this year. Spring Conference Early Bird Registration is out and the Northern Symposium will be held 2/23/17 in Prescott Valley.

8.  Adjourn – Meeting was adjourned at 11 a.m.
