Abstract:

North East India is the hub and meeting point of many races, faiths and cultures. Different groups have migrated in this place at different point of time. It is a place of more than hundreds of tribes speaking wide ranges of languages. The North East India truly represents the multicultural, multiracial, multi-religious and multiethnic society in India. Each and every community have their own traditional as well as modern way of life, customs, traditions and beliefs, etc. These colourful lives of the people, customs, festivals and dances represent the rich cultural diversity in North East India in particular as well as India in general.

However, the changing World Order since the 1990s has bought many changes not only among the tribes in NE India but also other parts of the world. The changing world environment as a result of globalization, modernization, urbanization, migration and active social, print as well as electronic media has deeply impacted the society and life of the people in North East India. These changes have been witnessed not only in socio-economic and political areas but also in traditional beliefs, foods, dresses, and other cultural practices. On the basis of the above background seminar papers are invited from the interested scholars / individuals / teachers / students on the given theme and sub themes.
