Trebles all round for Sennan Fielding at Silverstone in BRDC Formula 4

Sennan Fielding became the first driver in the history of the BRDC Formula 4 series, using YOKOHAMA control tyres, to claim wins in all three races over one weekend. He took his first win of the season on Saturday and followed it up with two more on Sunday on the International circuit at the Northamptonshire circuit.

It was a virtual clean sweep, with Fielding also claiming pole position for the first race in Saturday's qualifying session. By the mid-point of the race, he had opened an advantage of a second but Straun Moore was having none of it and by the time the pair reached the chequered flag, Moore was positioned right under Fielding's rear wing.

Arjun Maini claimed a hard-fought third place, just besting newcomer Alex Palou while series leader George Russell took fifth.

The second race of the weekend - the first on Sunday - saw a heavy rain shower an hour before the start and while there was a dry line emerging from earlier races, the field was still split on tyre choice - front runners went for YOKOHAMA ADVAN A006 wets while others opted for the ADVAN A005 dry slicks. As it transpired, the wets worked for the very early part of the race but as the line became drier, the slick runners took the advantage.

As a result, Fielding sliced his way through the field and was in the lead again by lap four. However, he was not to have it his own way, as Gaetano di Mauro was also on a charge, from 11th on the grid and also on slicks.

On the final lap, the pair swapped the lead four times in as many corners with the eventual advantage going Fielding's way. Third was Will Palmer, who had climbed from 20th on the grid, also on slicks.

The third and final race of the weekend was a more traditional affair, with Fielding starting from pole for the second time, thanks to the fastest race lap of the weekend. He led from the start to the flag and was followed home by Raoul Hyman who passed Straun Moore on the sixth lap.

Championship leader George Russell finished both of Sunday's races in sixth place but manages to maintain the series lead, with 317 points to Hyman's 306. Fielding leaps up the table, thanks to his hat trick of wins, to third, with 288 points.
