·  Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation, Year 2: use of capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks to demarcate sentences

About this unit

This Punctuation unit focuses on revising the correct demarcation of sentences.

If using the unit in whole-class teaching, you could go through the initial screen together and ask children to share what they already know punctuating sentences. One suggestion is to get the class to make up a simple sentence and a question. Invent some physical punctuation sign which they use at the beginning and end of the sentence to demarcate the capital letter, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.

If you wish, children can tackle this unit independently, working individually or in groups. In this case, it is helpful if children already have some knowledge of how to punctuate sentences. It could be a very useful revision unit for those who need extra practice at this.
