TRAVELING THROUGH THE ROCK CYCLE-SCIENCE PROJECT

DUE______

Create a fictional children’s story about rocks and the changes they go through. Begin the story at any point of the rock cycle and work your way around the cycle. The book should cover the 3 different types of rocks, how they are formed, and an example of each type. Include at least 8 rock vocabulary words throughout your story. Highlight them or underline. Story should be written from the point of view of the rock(s). Example-“I was so hot I flattened into a metamorphic rock.”

Include both words (text) and photos (drawn and colored or printed pictures). Put it into a fictional story rather than a science text book format. This project is worth a test grade. Any plagiarized work will result in a zero.

  • You may write the story and share using PowerPoint, Google Presentation, or PREZI. Same rubric applies.

Rock Your Rocks!

I am a beautiful metamorphic rock named Bella Marie Marble. I sparkle as bright as a shining star.I live with my family high atop Mount Magnetite.

“Uh oh, trouble!” my dad, Phil Fluorite, yelled.

The ground started to shake. Rock began to loosen and tumble rapidly downhill. I couldn’t hold on anymore! I was eroding rapidly down the hill, hitting other rocks on the way down. I was breaking into sediments…….
