Bursary application package

The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience will be held in Townsville 2 to 11 September 2016. State Library of Queensland, through Q ANZAC 100: Memories for a New Generation is offering a limited number of travel bursaries of $2,000 to organisations from North Queensland to assist with travel costs associated with a group visit to the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience.

The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience is a travelling exhibition that tells the story of Australia’s involvement in the First World War, and the ensuing Century of Service of Australia's armed forces in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations in which Australia has been involved.

The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience is the flagship community event of the Australian Government’s Anzac Centenary national program.

The exhibition follows a chronological timeline spanning the period from pre-First World War Australia to the present day, using a mix of visuals, artefacts, audio and film to engage visitors.

Bursary Guidelines

Travel bursaries of $2,000 are available to assist community organisations with travel costs associated a group visit to the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience to be held 2 to 11 September 2016 in Townsville.

Eligibility criteria

Organisations applying must be:

·  Incorporated

·  Not-for-profit

·  Located within Central Queensland region

·  Located outside Townsville City Council local government area.

Assessment process

All applications will be assessed by an expert panel of representatives from State Library of Queensland. The panel will consider the responses to the following supporting information:

·  Written description about your organisation.

·  Demonstrated collaboration with at least one other organisation in your region in this group visit. Written statements or letters of support may be included with your application.

·  Describe how your group will share this experience with the wider community (in 200 words)

·  Budget breakdown for travel to the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience.

Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience in Townsville: Friday 2 to Sunday 11 September 2016

Payment of bursary

Payment of the travel bursary amount will be paid on receipt of a tax invoice for the funding amount.

Costs

Expenditure eligible for the travel bursary includes costs of group travel (e.g. bus, train reimbursement) only.

Travel arrangements

Successful applicants are required to make their own travel arrangements.

Group booking for the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience

Successful applicants are required to book their visit through the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience website.

Grant acquittal

Successful applicants will be required to submit a brief report within four weeks of attending the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience. Photographs and media clippings should be included in the acquittal report where available.

Successful applicants agree that content supplied may be used by State Library of Queensland in the State Library of Queensland’s Word War 1 Centenary blog.
