Trauma Care Research Grants

Trauma Care was founded in 1996 to address the need for commonly agreed standards of best clinical practice in the management of trauma. We aim to improve the outcome of the trauma victim by establishing best practice throughout the whole chain of care. We achieve this through education, research and publishing.

To facilitate high quality trauma research, Trauma Care offers small research grants to support research and innovation in this subject area. The total fund available is £5,000 per annum, which will be allocated to one or more research projects, depending on a competitive process of application.

The research grant can be used to support any aspect of the study including but not limited to salary costs; statistical support; equipment; patient and public involvement; and transcription costs.

Applications for funding are invited from doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and students who are members of Trauma Care. Applications can be submitted from research groups, but the lead applicant must be a member of Trauma Care.

The lead applicant need not have any previous research experience, but adequate supervision and mentorship must be in place. Within the research team there should be an individual who has experience of supervising researchers and who will act as the applicant’s supervisor.

If you are a novice researcher who would like to apply but you are not part of a group and do not know anyone who would be willing to act as a supervisor, please contact Jason Smith () and we will attempt to put you in touch with a suitable supervisor.

Studies with a strong multidisciplinary element will be looked upon favourably. Ideally the project should have patient and public involvement. The study can involve primary or secondary research.

At the end of the project the successful applicants will be asked to present their work at the annual Trauma Care Conference. The grant will be administered by Trauma Care ().
