”... the sea was as smooth as glass. Sunday morning at 10 we had a sermon by a minister named Jan Andersson. We also had two more ministers with us on the boat.
In the evening at 7.15 (Norwegian time) we noticed land, which was most pleasant and made me think of how joyful it once will be, when we after a stormy journey on the
ocean will see the beautiful land of Heaven.
Between 12 and 1 o ́clock at night the pilot came towards us. But we did not
reach land before 4 in the morning, then the agent took us to the hotel, where
we had bread, butter and coffee. Then he brought us to the railroad and we
continued our journey to Liverpool.
To travel through England was very pleasant and you can believe it was a
variety for me to see, instead of the ridges in Jernskog, a country, where
everything was like a park.
The potato haulms were high and the grass so long where the sheep grazed, that you cold hardly see them.
At 17.30 we reached the station in Liverpool, where the agent met us and
brought us to the hotel, where we ate meat, pork and potatoes together with
soup.
In the hotel I also have been lying tonight and I have slept well.
Tomorrow at 6 we will travel from here and continue our journey to America
and I hope that we atfterwards too will have a pleasant journey.
At last I want to tell you not ---? for my part, for the Lord is with me and then
nobody can be against. God has followed and helped me when I wandered in
stillness in Jernskog and how could he now abandon me when I need his help
more.
Moreover my kind regards to all my dear friends in Jernskog, all included.
Especially you must send my regards to the children in the Sunday-school. In
the first place all of you in the home have my regards.

(Some of the siblings in America went by the surname of Olson and some by Allen. Either was correct, all were full-blooded siblings. Don’t understand this.)
