Title:Learning & Technology Officer

Place or base of work:Thrive’s National Headquarters at Beech Hill, near Reading.
Some travel throughout the UK will be required.

Reports to:Training, Education and Consultancy Manager

Direct reports: None

Salary: up to£27,500 pa

Hours:35 hours per week

Contract:Permanent

Purpose of Role

To play an integral part in the development and delivery of Thrive’s Training,Education and Consultancy (TEC) services.

Typical Activities

  • As part of the TEC Team, input to the development, delivery and monitoring of all aspects of the Training, Education and Consultancy strategy.
  • Develop electronic learning content using multi media and technology in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture for the thrivelearn.org.uk online learning platform
  • Create courses and modules using a Moodle platform
  • Manage and support students’ learning journey through online learning courses and modules
  • Work collaboratively across the TEC team to deliver quality training, education and consultancy, and in particular support other Thrive staff in relation to learning technology.
  • Deal with enquiries, requests for information and correspondence from professionals and members of the public relating to training and development opportunities in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Promote, set up and manage bespoke and consultancy work in line with TEC strategy.
  • Deliver traditional classroom based courses in line with demand and TEC commitments
  • Build and develop relationships with relevant institutions, organisations, professional bodies and voluntary public or private sector organizations to broaden training opportunities.
  • Promote the training,social and health care aspects of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture with community and professional groups, other relevant organisations and individuals external to Thrive.
  • To support other areas of Thrive’s work as required.
  • To occasionally work with people with a disability on client programmes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential / Desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Experience /
  • Confident and capable to educate, deliver and train people.
  • Practical experience in delivering training.
  • Understanding/experience of the Further Education and Higher Education sectors.
  • Experience of developing learning content using technology and multimedia
  • Strong IT skills and previous experience of using IT within education
/
  • Relevant teaching qualification, or working towards a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Practical experience in delivering training in social and therapeutic horticulture
  • Previous experience of using Moodle or other online learning platforms
  • Knowledge and experience of working with disabled people.
  • Professional Development Diploma in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture and/or other qualifications within STH, Horticulture, Health and/or Social Care.
