Purpose of the Role

To assist in the provision of the Legal Service to NNDC and external clients while receiving training and development.

Key Result Areas

  1. To gain knowledge and experience of legal principles, procedures and legislation, in order to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post effectively.
  2. To undertake legal research as directed by the Head of Service.
  3. To draft legal documents and materials for hearings, trials, appeals and inquiries so far as the matter is within the experience and ability of the post-holder.
  4. To prepare for and to represent at meetings, hearings and tribunals, including providing advocacy and case management.
  5. To provide legal advice on all aspects of the law arising from the discharge of the Council’s functions.
  6. To attend such meetings both internally and externally as required by the Head of Service and to provide legal advice.
  7. To undertake such administrative tasks as required.
  8. To attend training as required by the Councils and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
  9. To take responsibility for your own Health and Safety at work and that of other persons who may be affected by your actions.
  10. Any other work required and as directed within the confines of the existing grading and post.
