Trainee Checklist – Week 4-7 (up until half term) 25th September - 20th October

These checklists are guidelines, as every trainee will go at a different pace. Discuss with Teacher Tutor what is right for you.

Continue to observe other teachers in your school at least two per week. / Use ‘Trainee Observation Evaluation form’
This can be done in your PPA time
Complete weekly timetable and file / General rule. One day PPA if in school 4 or more days. Half day PPA if in school only 3 days.
Formal teaching observations x1 per week by TT or and SBM / Each observation should have a main focus on one or two teachers’ standards. The main focus should link to your weekly targets.
Meet weekly with Teacher Tutor / Follow the weekly meeting agenda.
Set weekly SMART targets against teaching standards and obtain feedback.
Discuss progress towards action plan targets.
Target areas of development from weekly observations.
Upload any evidence on to e portfolio and have it verified by TT.
Continue to work on aspects of your case studies assignment, this term. Work with specific children chosen for your case studies. TS 5
Plan and teach whole class lessons / At least 2 each weekup to half term. At this stage- advisable to take an existing plan and adapt it for your use.
Complete ‘Trainee Primary Curriculum Teaching Tracker’ / Weekly, to keep a record of the range of your teaching experience
Phonics / Following training session on 22/9/17 begin to observe phonics teaching and then teach some phonics lessons. For those in KS1, start to observe or teach phonics daily. Important that those in KS2 also have an opportunity to observe and teach some phonics, perhaps in year 3.
KS1 Maths and English (for trainees in KS1) / Following training on 28/9/17, incorporate ideas into your teaching and reflect on their effectiveness with regard to your teaching and the progress of the pupils, on your planning. Complete any tasks given.
PE ( timetable teaching some PE lessons this term) / Following training on 5/10/17, incorporate ideas into your teaching and reflect on their effectiveness with regard to your teaching and the progress of the pupils, on your planning. Complete any tasks given.
KS2 English writing and guided reading (for trainees in KS2) / Following training on 6/10/17, incorporate ideas into your teaching and reflect on their effectiveness with regard to your teaching and the progress of the pupils, on your planning. Complete any tasks given.
Practice and use modelled and shared writing in English and other lessons.
Work on SEN assignment – handed out on 10/10/17
KS2 maths
(for trainees in KS2) / Following training on 12/10/17
Incorporate ideas into your teaching and reflect on their effectiveness with regard to your teaching and the progress of the pupils, on your planning. Complete any tasks given.

Targets or tasks may be set in training sessions, linking theory with practice.

Please ensure that your Main Placement School know when you will be out of school for additional placements and Foundation stage.
