Train information: JR Hakata Station to/from

AINA-2004 at FukuokaInstitute ofTechnology (FIT)

From JR Hakata Station to Chikuzen-Shingu Station

The AINA-2004 conference hotels are located near and only a few minutes walk to JR Hakata Station. In going to FIT from JR Hakata Station, take the train bound (final destination) either for Kokura, Shimonoseki, Fukuma, Akama, Moji, or Mojiko. These trains run along the JR Kagoshima Line track. You can either take the Local/Ordinary Train (called Futsu Densha), or the Semi-Express Train (called Kaisoku Densha). The ordinary and semi-express trainscharge the same fare(JPY 270). Depending on the time of the day, train departs about every 7 to 12 minutes. On the average, the travel time between Hakata and Chikuzen-Shingu is about 20 minutes by the ordinary train, and about 15 minutes by Semi-Express Train.

From JR Hakata Station, the train stops at the following stations before reaching Chikuzen-Shingu Station.

JR Hakata -> Yoshizuka -> Hakozaki*-> Chihaya

-> Kashii -> KyuSanDai Mae*-> Chikuzen-Shingu

Note: The Semi-Express Train does not stop at stations marked with asterisk"*".

Get-off at Chikuzen-Shingu Station and follow the signs and directions. Fukuoka Institute of Technology (or FukuKouDai) campus is beside the station and only a few minutes walk to the AINA-2004 venue.

From Chikuzen-Shingu Station to Hakata Station

You can take the train heading towards the opposite direction (Hakata Station). All trains bound for the opposite direction stops at Hakata Station. On the average, train departs about every 7 to 12 minutes.

Notes:

1.There are some Nishitetsu local buses from Hakata Bus Terminal and stops near

Chikuzen-Shingu Station. Buses though take longer time, especially during rush

hours, and it’s quite a long walk from the bus stop to FIT.

2. Taxis are always available but quite expensive.

3. At Hakata Station, the train platforms for JR trains and Shinkansen

(Bullet Trains) are different.

4. JR train service starts from past 4:00am and ends few minutes after midnight.
