Summer Staff Job Description

Lifeguard

Reports To

Guest Service Interns, Guest Service Coordinator and Summer Staff Coordinators.

Qualifications

·  Completed one year of college or age similar

·  Must display a mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ

·  Must have current lifeguard and CPR certifications

Job Responsibilities

The Lifeguard has the responsibility, privilege and duty to ensure a safe swimming environment for our guests. Specific duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

1.  Ensure safety around the pool at all times by enforcing safety rules and setting a good example.

2.  Be aware of emergency action plan and location of all emergency equipment.

3.  Keep pool, hot-tub, and surrounding area clean at all times.

4.  Assist the Property Staff with daily pool maintenance.

5.  Take and record pool/hot tub chemicals as scheduled daily.

6.  Put umbrellas down if no one is using them or it gets too windy.

7.  Sweep the entire pool area on a daily basis.

8.  Skim pool as needed throughout the day.

9.  Provide lifeguard services at Frontier Ranch on Frontier Day morning.

10.  Assist Jeep Wrangler on a daily basis with washing jeeps.

11.  Assist with various other jobs and projects around Trail West as needed.

Summer Staff Responsibilities

In addition to the aforementioned tasks all Summer Staff members are also expected to participate in other activities including, but not limited to:

1.  Contact work with all guests, especially teenagers: learn their names, get to know them, help them to feel included and a part of camp

2.  Assist program as needed; round up, kids klub, activities, carnival, tableau, etc….

3.  Work Crew/Summer Staff Night: you may be asked to give your testimony

4.  Young Life Club, as requested: sing, play up the program

5.  Kids Klub Activities: set-up and run games, help kids as needed, run events

Dress:

A modest swimsuit (one piece or modest tankini required for girls); light jacket or sweatshirt for chilly days; comfortable clean work clothes - jeans, shorts and t-shirts (see Appearance in the Summer Staff Expectations information). You will need a western (not hillbilly) outfit for Welcome.
