MontessoriEducation?

As you are already aware, one of the core components of the Montessori methodology is the 3 hour uninterrupted work cycle. This cycle may occur in the morning or afternoon. As a public school and especially this year with construction limiting outdoor spaces, this has become a challenge! By law, we are required to provide 135 minutes/week of PE and 30 minutes a day of recess. This means creative scheduling to ensure that all students in our 34 PK – 6th grade classrooms receive these opportunities! Coach Garza is our PE teacher who has been working diligently to utilize the cafeteria, pavilion and outdoor spaces. Due to a snag in construction, the kitchen will not open until January!

Traffic Safety

When you return you will find that the parking spaces on the street in front of the school have been replaced with curbs and landscaping per the construction plans. Plan ahead for drop-off and pick-up. Remember there is a visitor lot on the side of the modular building facing Wakefield.

If you have children in grades K – 8th grade you are recommended to use the circle drive for drop-off. Be sure to pull all the way up to the gate in the fence in the circle drive and drop off. If you are walking, be sure to cross with the crossing guard, using the cross walks.

Weekly Montessori Moment

Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence. –Dr. Maria Montessori
