Townhouse Leasing Options

·  There are two leasing options – 12 month or academic year. Those who are interested in the 12 month lease are given first priority during housing sign-up. Typically, most units are taken during the 12 month lease sign-up.

·  12 month lease begins May 2015

·  If you have a 12 month lease, you may stay in your current on campus housing (at no extra charge) until you move into your townhouse in May. (the same is true for a subleaser)

Townhouse Cancellations

·  You have two weeks from the date of sign-up to cancel your lease. Keep in mind that if one person cancels, everyone in that townhouse will also be cancelled.

Subleasing

·  If you need someone to take over your lease for the summer, he/she must be a current Concordia student. During the academic year, the sublease must be a current junior or senior at Concordia.

·  If you are studying abroad or graduating mid-year, you will need to find a subleaser because you are still responsible for the rent, even if you are not living there. (You must occupy the unit for at least one semester.)

·  It is your responsibility to find a subleaser, however the Residence Life Office can be a good resource for helpful tips.

·  Students who want summer housing on campus are typically interested in living in the townhouses. You may want to consider offering a summer rent incentive. (You pay a portion of the rent for them.)

·  If the student is subleasing for the entire summer, he/she is eligible for the summer rent rebate (see above).

·  When you have secured a subleaser, both parties MUST complete the Sublease Agreement in the Residence Life Office.
