RE:Our Upcoming Teen Trek Registration

We are holding our Teen Trek Registration early again this year due to the overwhelming response we have gotten in the past. This year the registration will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at the John Jay Middle School Library from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. The registration doors will not be open until 10:00 a.m. but the school doors will open around 8:45 a.m. As with all our registrations, we will accept school district resident’s registration at that time but it will be numbered and registration will be accepted on first come, first serve basis. Due to the nature of this program (traveling and tickets) no one will be guaranteed a spot in this camp. We are currently only anticipating three buses this summer. We will only consider a fourth bus if registration dictates it.

Again for this year is that we are going to run two buses five days a week and one bus three days a week. And if a fourth bus runs, it will be dictated to us by the interest of the participants. Registration for each bus will be limited to only 48 children. Mondays and Fridays the 5 day buses will go on trips to local facilities (bowling, ice skating, arcades, etc.) and on Tuesday through Thursday will join the other bus on the more traditional trips (amusement parks, water parks, baseball games, etc.). Because of the limited space, it will be first come, first serve.

Both camps are held for six weeks, one bus will go three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and the other two buses will go five days a week (Monday through Friday). Camp is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, June 29th (5 day) or Tuesday, June 30th (3 day) and end either Thursday, August 6th(3 day) or Friday, August 7th(5 day) depending on which camp you register for. There will be NO CAMP on Friday, July 3rd, due to the holiday. The teens will have an opportunity to root for the local baseball teams, travel back to Medieval Times, head to most of the local amusement parks to check out the latest rides and so much more. Camp begins each morning at 9:00 a.m. (with the exception of one or two 8:00 a.m. starts) and originates from the JohnJayHigh School. The end of the day varies based on the trip destination. A complete schedule of trip sites, daily hours, trip tips and parent handbooks will be posted on our website ( under Parks and Recreation) in the middle of June. The fee for the six-week program is $1,400.00 for the 5 days a week camp and $1,150.00 for the 3 days a week camp.

This camp is for the mature, responsible teen. All campers must know how to swim and will be given a swim test during the first week of camp. If you won’t be there the day of the swim test you will need to make arrangements with the pool director or aquatics director to get your child tested. On some trips, teens will have the opportunity to go off in small groups and will have regular check in times scheduled throughout the day. Abuse of this privilege can result in suspension from camp without credit or refund.

We will continue the Lewisboro tradition and go on an overnight to HersheyPark. The tentative dates for the overnight to Hershey Park are Wednesday, July 15th – Thursday, July 16th for the three day camps and Wednesday, July 22nd – Thursday, July 23rd for the five day camps.

Transportation is provided at no extra cost from specific locations within Lewisboro/Katonah. Due to the construction projects at the various schools, some bus stops may have to be relocated. Bus transportation will be available at Lewisboro, Increase Miller, Meadow Pond and Katonah Elementary Schools, as well as Town Park, Oakridge Condos and Vista Community House. If you need transportation, you MUST register for it.

Please bring to registration payment in the amount of $1,400 for the 5 days of camp or $1,150 for the 3 days of camp (cash or checks payable to Town of Lewisboro); enclosed in this packet is a sample of our medical form with all the information that we need and our registration form. We recommend that you fill out this form and bring it with you to registration and copy it onto our permanent medical form. No registration will be accepted unless all forms are completely filled out – NO EXCEPTIONS! Again this year, due to limited space available, we will only let a participant’s family register for one other participant’s family. There will be NO SAVING of spots on line, etc.

If you have any questions, please contact me at the Recreation Department 232-6162.
