Terms and Conditions of Entry

By submitting an entry into the Cumbria Tourism Awards, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  1. The closing date for receipt of entriesis Monday 5th March 2018.
  2. Employees or representatives/agents of Cumbria Tourism and VisitEngland are not eligible for entry into the Awards.
  3. Businesses can enter more than one category, but separate entry forms and supplementary information must be completed for each.
  4. Entrants must be members of Cumbria Tourism.
  5. Winners from the previous year (2017) cannot enter the same category in 2018.
  6. Additional eligibility criteria may apply to specific awards. Please check the individual award details for more information.
  7. Any accommodation provider who enters the awards must have a current national 1-5 star grading from VisitEngland, the AA or an alternative nationally recognised quality assurance scheme including Quality Cumbria.
  8. Please note that by being shortlisted the business automatically becomes a finalist. However, the judges reserve the right to give Winner and Highly Commended Awards at their discretion.
  9. By entering the Awards you agree that if you win your category you will represent Cumbria nationally by submitting an entry to the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in 2018 where applicable. Some of the award categories run at a Cumbria level only, for clarification please email .
  10. By entering the Awards, you agree to be part of the publicity if you are a finalist in any category.
  11. Please note that Cumbria Tourism or their agents do not accept responsibility for the return of any entries and/or supplementary information, including those consisting of artistic or other material.
  12. The judges’ decisions are final and they cannot enter into discussion about the shortlisting process, choice of finalists or choice of winners.
  13. Most finalists in the competition will receive a mystery shop visit or judging validation visit (see the individual category forms for further information). The Tourism Event of the Year will be judged by public vote on golakes.co.uk and in the event of a tie, the judging panel will make the final decision.
  14. The Cumbria Tourism Awards are free to enter, but those businesses selected as finalists will be required to pay for a mystery shopping or judging/validation visit. These costs will be appropriate to each award category and in the case of mystery shopping will include entry fees, meals and/or an overnight stay.
  15. Further details and a consent form will be sent with the shortlisting notification and this must be completed, and the invoice for the mystery shopping or judging validation report paid, before the shortlist is announced, or the visit will not take place and you will be disqualified.
  16. Any business with outstanding debts for mystery shopping fees or event final tickets from previous years will be unable to enter the 2018 competition until the debt is settled.
  17. Any business entering the awards must operate in Cumbria.
