Touch of Nature Environmental Center, Southern Illinois University Carbondale is currently accepting applications for the position of Director.

Position:The primary role of the Director, Touch of Nature position is to direct the overall operations of the Touch of Nature Environmental Center. Duties include but are not limited to: oversee outdoor research laboratories for faculty, staff and students studying quality academic pursuits in the natural environment (i.e. therapeutic recreation, environmental studies, etc.); serve as liaison with university academic units that provide research, teaching, and service opportunities; supervise facility operations - lodging, food services, and grounds maintenance; supervise all educational camp programs and services as well as oversee all program budgets - Environmental Education program, Therapeutic Recreation program, Underway Adventures program, Camp Little Giant, retreats and events. Supervise all administrative operations - fiscal, personnel (recruitment and retention), marketing and sales, program development and delivery, communications, and public relations; develop annual and long-range plans for facility operation, maintenance, and program development; develop alternative usage strategies for the Touch of Nature facilities that promote patronage from public, private, and university groups and create positive revenue streams to support the operation; ensure overall operations comply with University policies and procedures; maintain positive working relationships among department's faculty and staff, university personnel, representatives of user groups and external public.

Requirements:Master's degree in: outdoor education, therapeutic recreation, environmental education, administration, recreational education, business, public administration, or related field. Three years’ experience in program administration with evidence of budget management and supervisory experience with staff, program development, promotion and implementation, and facility operations.
