Total Consecration Preparation Classes begin this week:

What does it mean to Consecrate oneself to Jesus?

Consecration is an act by which a person dedicates himself to sacred service and worship of God. Rites of consecration have been common since early times. Among Semetic tribes it consisted in the threefold act of separating, sanctifying, and devoting oneself to God. In the Hebrew Law, Moses applied a solemn act of consecration to an entire people as described in the Book of Exodus (Chpt. 24)

Why Consecration to Jesus… through Mary?

Mary is our spiritual mother, given to us at the foot of the Cross by Jesus the Christ. Mary, God’s most obedient and perfect creation, draws one more fervently to her son.

Total Consecration is recommended by St. Louis de Montfort in his classic book: True Devotion to Mary. Blessed Pope John Paul II said “Reading this book was to be a turning point in my life…and has since remained a part of me. …it is an effective means for Christians to live their baptismal commitments.”

St. Louis advises thirty-three days of preparation for the consecration with prayer and spiritual readings to begin as an advent to one of six prescribed Feast Days (and renewal, done at least once every year). Consecration on The Feast of the Annunciation/Incarnation was most widely promoted by St. Louis. Therefore, The World Apostolate of Fatima will host preparation meetings beginning on February 19/20th leading up to a Total Consecration Celebration on The Feast of the Annunciation/Incarnation, Tuesday, March 25th.
