TORREY PINES SENIOR LEAGUE TEAM
Torrey Pines Men’s Club is a member of the San Diego County Seniors Inter-League Golf Club. Currently, there are 21 golf clubs around the county that participate. Each of the teams plays a home and away match. It is a match play event, which consists of 6 players from each team. 2 players are in the A group, 2 in the B group, and 2 in the C group. 2 points are awarded for the winner of each 9 holes and 2 for the overall winner. The combined scores of the A, B, and C groups will determine the winner of the match. The top 8 teams at the end of the year are in a seeded playoff to determine the overall winner of the league.
Torrey Pines’ home course is Riverwalk Golf Club. How the league works is that when we play a home match at Riverwalk you pay for yourself and 1 player from the visiting team. The cost at Riverwalk is $122 and you collect $15 from your opponent to cover the cart fee. Thus, the net cost is $107. This includes golf, cart, range balls and lunch.When we go to the opponents course, all we pay is the cart fee which is usually around $15. At some courses you have the option to walk. Therefore, the cost of 2 rounds of golf, range balls, lunch and cart would be $122.
Team members play on the average 4-5 matches (9-10 rounds of golf) during the year, which goes from January-October. Prior to the start of the season, the schedule is sent out and you choose the matches you want to play in. Every effort is made to schedule you for those matches. The home matches at Riverwalk are normally on a Wednesday, and the visiting match is either on a Monday or Friday. The cost to join the team is $15 plus $40 to purchase a team shirt. In addition to the matches, the league has 3 tournaments during the year at courses such as Morgan Run, El Camino, and San Vicente.
