1.03 SUBMITTALS:

A.  Product Data: Provide manufacturer’s product and complete installation data for all materials in this specification.

B.  Shop Drawings: Show profiles, joining method, location of components, anchorage details, adjacent construction interface, and dimensions as well as all necessary wiring and electrical requirements.

C.  Samples: Sized to adequately represent material.

D.  Contract Closeout: Submit the Manufacturer’s warranty and performance certifications [if applicable].

E.  Installation Guide: Provide a written installation and operating manuals and/or installation recommendations.

1.04 QUALITY:

A.  Swinging door operator shall be certified by the manufacture to meet performance design criteria according to the following test standards.

1.  ANSI Standard A156.19 [Low Energy Power Operated Doors]

2.  Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) listed.

3.  C-UL certified (equivalent to CSA certified).

B.  TORMAX TTX 1102 Low Energy Swing Door Operator: Shall be manufactured in an ISO 9001 registered manufacturing facility.

1.05 PRODUCT HANDLING:

A.  All materials shall arrive in the manufacturer’s original sealed, labeled containers.

B.  Store materials in a dry, protected, well-vented area. The contractor shall report damaged material immediately to the delivering carrier and note such damage on the carrier’s freight bill of lading.

C.  Remove all protective material after installation.

1.06 SUBSTITUTIONS:

A.  Proposals for substitution products will be accepted only from bidding contractors a minimum of 10 working days before the bid due date. The proposed substitution shall meet the performance and quality standards of this specification.

1.07 JOB CONDITIONS:

A.  Verify that other trades are complete prior to installing the automatic swing door operator.

B.  Mounting surfaces shall be plumb, straight and secure; substrates shall be of proper dimension and material.

C.  Refer to the construction documents, shop drawings and manufacturer’s installation and operating manuals.

D.  Coordinate the installation of glass, glazing and finished door hardware.

E.  Observe all appropriate OSHA safety guidelines for this work.

1.08 WARRANTY/GUARANTEE:

A.  Manufacturer’s Standard Warranty: Warranted materials shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year after installation.

2.02 SWING DOOR OPERATOR:

A.  Swing Door Operator: Shall be TORMAX TTX 1102 Low Energy Swing Door Operator. The operator shall be capable of swinging interior or exterior doors weighing up to 275 pounds (125 kg) up to 48” wide (1219 mm). The system shall consist of a non-handed electro-mechanical power open spring close modular operator supporting a 1/4 + HP DC motor and mechanics, self-learning microprocessor programmable control unit, aluminum header, door connecting hardware, on/off/hold open switch and operate controls [safety controls if desired specify]. The use of mechanical switches and or cams to determine door position shall not be permitted. The TTX 1102 low energy swing door operator shall be completely engineered, manufactured and assembled in accordance with TORMAX USA Inc. procedures and specifications. The TTX 1102 low energy swing door operator, control unit and header shall be factory assembled as a unit, adjusted and tested. All bearings shall be ball or roller type. No bushings shall be used. Provide 115VAC 60 HZ, 5 Amp, single-phase power supply. For multiple operators the electrical contractor shall provide service to each operator from junction box.

B.  Door Operation: Shall be [Select: single, pair or double egress, outswing or inswing] operation.

C.  Power Open Operation: The operator shall open the door with a 1/4 + HP DC motor driving a forged rack and pinion compression spring assembly through a patented re-circulating ball screw mechanism. The DC motor shall have a built-in protection circuit that interrupts current to the motor if the door is blocked open. The door arm and linkage assembly shall attach to a conical/hexagonal shaped stainless steel output shaft. Door opening speed as required by ANSI Standard A156.19. The drive train shall have positive, constant engagement. Operator shall stop the door in the open position and shall stall against an integral built-in spring loaded adjustable end stop. The door shall remain in the full open position for a minimum of 5 seconds or a minimum of 3 seconds if push/pull activation is used.

D.  Spring Closing Operation: The operator shall close the door by spring energy. Closing speed shall be controlled by employing the motor as a dynamic break. Closing spring shall be pre-loaded for positive closing action at a low material stress level. Door closing speed as required by ANSI Standard A156.19.

E.  Manual Operation: Operator shall function as a manual door closer in the direction of swing with or without electric power.

F.  Entrapment protection: Door forces and speeds generated during power opening and manual opening and spring closing shall conform to the requirements of ANSI Standard A156.19.

G.  Aluminum Extrusion: Side load mounting back plate shall have a minimum of .156 (4mm) wall thickness.

H.  Aluminum Extrusion Finish: Standard Architectural Class 1 anodized finish shall be [select one: AA-M12-C21-A41 Clear, AA-M12-C22-A44 Dark Bronze or Black]. [Special anodized, painted and metal clad finishes are available upon request. Specify finish, type and color].

I.  Header Case shall be of the following design: Side load - lintel mounted unit measuring 4 9/16” high x 5” wide x 31 ½” long (116 mm high x 127 mm wide x 800 mm long) or full width header case [Specify full width header case if desired]. Header case shall consist of an extruded aluminum back plate and cover complete with finished steel end caps. Access to the operator shall be from the header face. The operator/controller mechanism shall be isolated with rubber pads and sealed against dust, dirt and corrosion within the header case.

J.  Low Profile Slim Line Cover: Optional [Specify] Operator/controller mechanism fastens directly above the door to a solid non-transparent surface or direct to an optional back plate. Low profile slim line cover is snapped into place concealing the operator/controller mechanism to the wall or back plate. Cover is finished with decorative end plates. Low profile slim line cover measures 3-3/8 inches high by 5 inches wide by 31-1/2 inches long (86 mm high by 127 mm wide by 800 mm long) or full width cover [Specify full width cover if desired]. Access to operator/controller mechanism is provided from the cover face. Cover shall be flush with bottom of optional back plate [Specify optional back plate if desired].

K.  Linkage Assembly: Shall provide positive control of the door through the entire swing; shall permit use on outswing or inswing doors with butt hinges, offset pivots and center pivots.

L.  Mode of Operation: The three-position on/off/hold open switch shall provide the following modes of operation.

1.  OFF – Door activators are disabled (key switch input remains enabled for access control integration).

2.  ON – Normal operation (open/time out/close)

3.  HOLD OPEN – Door(s) will open and stay open.

M.  Controls: Provide with the following control functions. [Select, if applicable: hardwire or wireless push plates, hand held transmitter, OA-Edge1 T approach and swing side door mounted presence sensors, battery back-up, I/O module, sequencing module, interlocking module, etc.]

2.03 SELF-LEARNING MICROPROCESSOR CONTROL:

A.  Self-Learning Microprocessor Control shall utilize the following: An encoder fastened to the motor shaft shall monitor motor revolutions and send signals to the controller. Signals from the encoder shall define door position without the use of door position magnets or mechanical switches.

B.  The Self-Learning Microprocessor Control shall utilize a “Teach-In” program for the initial door set-up for both “Push and Pull” and “Automatic Door Operation” initiated through an automatic reference run. Door opening speed, door opening angle and hold open time (0-60s) shall be programmed to meet application requirements.

C.  Self-Learning Microprocessor Control: The programmable controller shall provide for the following functions:

1.  Mode of Operation: Low Energy Power Operated Door as defined by ANSI Standard A156.19.

2.  Respond to activation controls such as hardwired push plates, wireless push plates and/or “Push or Pull” activation

3.  Respond to overhead or door mounted safety sensors - Programmable

4.  Power open and hold - Programmable (smoke evacuation doors)

5.  Auto-diagnostics for quick and simple troubleshooting

6.  Integrated access code to inhibit unauthorized door adjustments

7.  Electronic reversing for door obstruction in the opening and closing direction -Programmable

8.  Motor power boost close - Programmable

9.  Motor hold close – Programmable

10.  Fine-tune door motion elements after “Teach-In” - Programmable

11.  Adjustable opening force limitation - Programmable

12.  Adjustable opening and closing speeds - Programmable.

13.  Adjustable opening angle – Programmable

14.  Adjustable Latch Check Speed - Programmable

15.  Adjustable hold open time for door actuators (0-60s) - Programmable

2.04 OPERATING CONDITIONS:

A.  Climatic Conditions: The operator shall be fully lubricated to minimize wear and friction of moving parts, and shall operate in an ambient temperature range +5 and +125 degrees F (-15 and +50 degrees C) in all climatic conditions

B.  Equivalent Continuous Sound Level: Less than 70 DB

III. PART THREE EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION:

A.  The door installer shall verify that the installation area is dry, clean and free of foreign matter. Shall verify the manufacturer’s details for accuracy to fit the wall assembly prior to fabrication. Report in writing to the Contractor any detrimental conditions to the proper functioning of the swinging door operator. Contractor shall correct conditions prior to any installation in accordance to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

3.02 INSTALLATION OF TTX 1102 LOW ENERGY SWINGING DOOR OPERATOR:

A.  Installation shall be by an installer, approved and trained by the manufacturer and in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

B.  Comply with the manufacturer’s recommendations and/or installation and operating manuals when installing the automatic swing door operator. Set all units plumb, level and true.

C.  Provide all fasteners required for installation of the automatic door operator.

D.  Adjustment and Cleaning: After repeated operation of the completed door installation, re-adjust operators and controls for optimum operating condition and safety. Clean all metal surfaces promptly after installation.

E.  Explain and review the Daily Safety Check Procedure.
