“TO ME – 2019”
Everyone wants to be successful. Whether we judge our success on business, wealth, spirituality, or family life, we all have a picture in our head of what our ideal life would be. In order to figure out how to get you there, we are going to start with the end in mind. Your job is to write a letter to your “future” self in 2019… six years from now! You would be one year out of college at this time if you choose to take that road in life. Listed below are sample topics you could include in your letter.
Topics that could be included:
1. What have you done with your life over the past few years? Discuss major goals or accomplishments.
2. Did you continue, start, or resign from sports, clubs, or organizations?
3. Did you go to a trade school, college or graduate school?
4. What type of career are you in or working towards?
5. Where will you be? Local? Far, far, away? Home?
6. What type of friends will you have? Will they be continued from high school or from a new chapter in your life?
7. Who is your ideal mate/partner? Will you be dating, marrying or will you be single? What does he/she look or act like? What do they do?
8. What kind of relationship will you have with your family?
9. How will you contribute to the community?
10. What do you look like?
11. What type of values do you have? Have they changed? Are they stronger?
12. What characteristics do you possess? Have they changed? Was it for the better or for worse?
13. What types of possessions do you have? Did you buy a car, house, pet, etc.? Is there a new technology out there that makes your life easier?
14. Where have you traveled? Why did you go there? Work? Vacation? Who did you go with?
15. How do you feel about yourself today? Do you feel good inside?

Grading – 25 points:
· Format – 6 pts.: It is in letter form, including an address heading, salutation, body, and close with signature. Appropriate spacing was used. (See the back of this sheet for a sample.)
· Content – 15pts.: The letter included detail about a minimum of 10 suggested topics. The letter clearly addressed the student’s future-self. Language used was appropriate and reflecting of the student’s personality.
· Presentation – 4 pts.: The letter was typed or neatly written in ink.
STANDARD LETTER FORMAT
While spacing, alignment, and justifications may change, a standard business letter always includes a few simple points. Please follow the general format explained below when writing your letter.
· Date: This is extremely important in business letters as it is often used in contract situations or to cite a day something becomes effective. It is typically dated with the day it is mailed. Skip TWO lines before the next section.
· Recipient Information: It is customary to put the full name of the recipient(s) along with his/her title, followed by his/her full address. Write it like you would on an envelope. Skip ONE line before the next section.
· Salutation: Formal greetings always start with “Dear,” followed by the person’s title and full name, and ending with a colon. Skip ONE line before the next section.
· Body of Letter: You actual letter comes next. Be professional, Use good grammar, and check your spelling. Skip TWO lines before the next section.
· Closing: Traditionally, people use “Sincerely” or “Respectfully” to close a letter. If it is has a warmer tone or is more informal in nature, “cordially,” “best wishes,” and “regards” are also common. A comma should follow the closing word. Skip FOUR lines to allow room for a signature.
· Sender’s Name: Typed your name and title at the bottom.
